First Tricks

Postby MagicLondon » May 20th, '07, 13:48

Hi,

I started magic when I was at school about 4 - 5 years ago. I then stopped magic for years... but now I am back! And have only been doing magic now for a month or two and I am loving it.

Anyways last night was the first time Ive done magic for anyone. It was at my friends house and I did coin unique, I made the penny vanish and appear in his back pocket (I had planted a penny there earlier)
My friend was totally amazed! I then followed that by an ID routine. Again he was really impressed.

It made me feel really good and reminded me what magic is all about.

This is why I (and prob most other people) perform magic - it's that buzz you get when you get that "how the hell did you just do that?" reaction of your spectator  .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

I completely agree. I'm sure the majority of us know a few people that react much better than others as well, and performing for those people is something that I could do all day (if I knew enough tricks). The joy you get from seeing the look of amazement and hearing the cries of "WHAT THE ****!" can't really be beaten. It's awesome.

It's great that you're back doing magic and you should definitely continue it for many years. If you are just starting again, I would suggest getting the staples of any beginning magician. Get these three books: Bobo's Modern Coin Magic, Royal Road to Card Magic, and Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic. They are really very good for new magicians.
