Derren Brown and Darwin Ortiz

Postby stevesmagic » Feb 23rd, '04, 19:09

Hi, can anyone give me a review on either Derren Brown, Absolute Magic or Darwin Ortiz's Strong Magic.

I have read that Strong Magic is far superior and have looked everywhere for it but now given up and would like to know if Absolute Magic is comparable.

Thanks

I checked via the Search Function above and found that Absolute Magic was been reviewed at http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/viewtopic.ph ... lute+magic and Strong Magic (ages ago!) at http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/viewtopic.ph ... rwin+ortiz

Can anyone else add to this?

There are reviews of the Art of Astonishment books somewhere here as well. I bought them last year and they are really very good. OK, they cost quite a bit but for anyone who really wants to be able to do some less commonly seen magic effects, these are a goldmine. With a bit of luck and the right contacts, a whole career could be established out of just one of the books! To be fair, the emphasis is on card magic but there are also other routines which don't involve cards. The books contain a lot of funny stuff, nothing to do with magic as such but just little funny stories and observations by Paul Harris - it works for me!
