hi peeps I'm after a programe to put on my laptop that i can catalouge my disco cd's and if possible let customers select tunes by search and add them to a playlist similar to what you can do with media player already but with a much simpler front end, which i can then play from the laptop.

belive me its much easier keeping an eye on a laptop then it is keeping track of your cd's or using a printed catalouge.

Go to www.dizzler.com and download the free version. Then you can search for all your favorite disco tunes and put them on the player in your "Favorites" list and that way people can see your music. Don't worry, it's free and legal. It's also its own media center with videos, games and radio.

Ugh, I sound like a spammer.

very nice unfortunatly i wont always have an internet conection at the venue I'm doing the disco sorry.

I'm looking for a programe or a front end if you like so i can clients can add tracks from my data base of music to the players request list, so they don't have to keep letting me know what cd and track number they wan't from the catalouge of 500+ cd's.

I always tend to use itunes. I also have a piece of hardware that allows me to play my music thrugh my speakers from my laptop. It came with a piece of software called Jukebox by Creative. Both very good programs for that sort of thing.

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

thanxs for the replies, looks like i'll have to make my own front end.
djstore has a customisable one but at £300 for abolt on to media player its a bit steep.
might give the people that make the free vlc player a buss and see if they have any ideas.

I would try this...

http://www.virtualmusicjukebox.com/

I have built a dedicated jukebox cabinet around this its about 4 years old now and everyone that comes round wants one!

would be ideal for the laptop, also if your laptop supports it touchscreen is great for this!

hope its of some use I love it!

thanxs again but i already have 5 editing / player programes all with searchable databases and online track identification.
I'm after a programe for people to look up my catalouge of tracks at a disco and add them themselves to a playlist, currently i do it manualy myself with one of the above, so it needs to be simple for sleightly inebriated folk to handle.
