Hello from Kent... no, not that Kent, the other one....

Hello!

I found this site after numerous googlings of various effects, gimmicks, etc.

It looks like a great resource with a lot of actual intelligent discussion going on (unlike some other forums)

I'm 25, electrical engineer living in Kent, Washington State (US)

I am very new to this stuff but only my girlfriend knows I am learning magic, I'm keeping it a secret from all my friends until I can really put on a show :D it should surprise the heck out of them!

Thanks for reading,

Fletcher

Hi and welcome to TM

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Welcome and thanks for that, although there are times when it gets distinctly less intelligent :D !

Wow, this is a very friendly forum, thanks for all the welcome guys.

I used to do the online forum thing with my last hobby which was radio control airplanes and helicopters. A lot of good discussion but mostly just people saying "cool" or "that looks ugly"

Here there are a lot of really good reviews that will hopefully stop me from wasting my money when I get a case of CUPS.

I laughed when I read your post tricky, I totally want to show everyone the few tricks that I *can* do... patience is key...

what do you guys think of this trick I want to do: first start off with some XCM and some card-throwing stunts. then at a respectable distance I set up a small hoop or basket or something along those lines (pity that top hats arent' in style) and I offer to make someone a bet that I can land the card in/thru the target. (it will look very impossible LOL)

I was thinking for the "bet" that my assistant (girlfriend or "magic widow") could pour out a shot of some rather stiff beverage. Tanqueray maybe. Whomever loses the bet takes the shot...

anyways so if I can get someone to bet me , then I start folding the card into the shape of a paper airplane. this should get some laughs and I ask , "nervous yet?" if no, then , "double or nothing???"

then I use either some elastic or invisible TR (attached while folding the card up) and it flies directly to/through it.

What do you guys think?

hey this site is cool I just added a picture to my profile. its a kitten we found with a ghost deck card for scale.

i just ordered a mini ghost deck, it would have been cool to use one of those to make the kitten look even tinier
