Good webcam for uploading magic vids?

Postby Lyncho » May 22nd, '07, 22:21

I'd like to get some footage of myself performing some tricks on youtube for you guys to critique, but I'm sure you can appreciate this is a little hard without a webcam! Do any of you have any recommendations or warnings when it comes to buying one? I'd prefer not to spend more than £15-£20 but I'd like a good quality camera so you guys can clearly (although hopefully not too clearly :D ) see what I'm doing. Any advice would be great.

Thanks a lot guys!

There are no good webcams for that. Kind of a moronic question there. I kid, I kid! :)

Just get a digital camera that has video capture WITH sound. All webcams out there are choopy and blurry. Don't go there.

I record my magic using a digital camcorder and I find the quality is very good and I can get it so the lighting is good and it's easy to see the cards. I would suggest that if you can't afford one, try and ask for one as a gift from a family member next time it's Christmas/your birthday/whatever.

I got my webcam (with mic) off ebay for £7 and it works brilliantly. I suppose I was just lucky though.

I recommend mini digital cameras like the 'Sanyo Xacti'.

They're easy to carry around and you can turn the monitor so you can see yourself. Most digital camera's monitors are just on the other side of the lens.

I'd stay away from tape and stick with Flash Memory. Editing from tape is a pain.

hope that helps.
