Elmsley count

Postby SpongeBallSlight-of-hand » May 27th, '07, 02:19

I have the trick "Twisted Sisters" and it requires a little sleight of hand called the Elmsley count. I can't say how the trick is done but I learned it from the Twisted sisters magic trick book. I need to know if I'm doing the trick right. Basically, 4 cards are shown. That's it, really, 4 cards are counted and this sleight can be used for many card effects. Twisted Sisters is a magic trick.

Thanks much!

You've got the jist of it. Just loosen the grip a little. Try and coutn four cards normally like an Elmsley Count but without the sleight. Then try and make your Elmsley Count look identical to that.

hmmm thats not the way I do it personally, I know a lot of ways exist but I think you should be transferring the cards from one hand to the other, it looks like you start by counting of the card second from the top? again not sure if thats correct, also you might find it easier if you hold the cards at the tips of your fingers, but the idea is taking shape, have a look at the twisting sisters manual wouldn't do any harm (lack of diagrams if I recall though)
I'd also that you are probably better to get some advice from an advance member as what Ive said could be wrong

If I remember rightly aswell twisted sisters requires an underground elmsley.
I would recommend getting comfortable with an elmsley first though, get a nice rythem and have confidence, it is meant to be viewed naturally and not to draw too much attention.

You've got the jist of it so just keep practicing!

If you really want to get the Elmmsley off to a tee then try Queens out of Control

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
