After having viewed some of your youtube videos, I would like to echo the thoughts of many on here, in that you definitely need to refine your performing style, it seems like you are bubbling over with pride in yourself, and this is conveyed to the audience, and it has been demonstrably interpreted by some here as arrogance. You need to be a little more relaxed and a little more humble. My advice to you is go search out some performances by a guy called Guy Hollingworth, one of the most calm, suave and attractive (in the magical sense ;)) performers out there. He carries off some very difficult magic with an apparent ease that many amateurs and many of the great magicians look up to. If you could aim to be a little more like him, I guarantee you would notice a massive change in the reaction from spectators, and maybe from people in general.

He is indifferent to you. There is a food stuff over here called Marmite its a yeast extract now people either love or hate it. No one is in between the two. But Mr Jay if he will allow me to speak for him has no opinion of you.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

That makes sense. Thank you!

And thank you, Swest! I have heard about Guy Hollingworth but have not really seen him in action. I will take a look on YouTube.

Michael Kras wrote:No problem! I will work on the routine a bit and then post a YouTube video for you.

This is what is most worrying. The routine needs to be worked on to be able to show it on a video yet it's complete enough to sell to other magi?

Perform magic, use your own material and others material to blow away lay people. Do it for a long time and you'll enjoy it. If you do a good enough job, you may even make good money from this performing. Once you have performed effects that entertain lay people for many years, perhaps then contact some professional magicians with some experience behind them and ask for feedback on your own material (assuming you want to sell it). The next step is to do what they suggest.

I will only purchase creative material from someone who has already established themselves as a competent performer for lay people.

Take it easy,

P.H.

Thank you, Mr. Harrisson. I admit I do not use The Amazingly Salty Edible Knot often, which is why I would run through the routine again before posting a video.

As for the video itself, I apologize for the wait! My camera may be broken and I need to get some batteries for it.

From what I can tell he didnt do what he was told. I have yet to see him take anyones advice seriously. So I see nothing wrong with Jays post, and I totally agree with his postings.

Some times the only way to get through to people like kras, is to be harsh and lash out. As long as they have that ego, they wont listen.

I do listen and do follow advice. I followed Jay's advice, most definitely, did what I was told, and he STILL lashed out. I am trying to be more humble and grateful of all of the advice given around here. I will clean up my act.

Michael Jay wrote:Quit studying technique and start studying theory. You are fine in the technique department, but it is the theory that will teach you how to take those techniques and turn them into magic. As it stands, you are a puzzlemaster. If that's what you want, then fine. If you want to be a magician, though, then shut up and listen and apply the knowledge that you are being given.

Sounds like he's listened to you. I just hope he takes it on board.

Not really, I was just wondering where the thread was going, apart from downhill, as it's yet another game of ping pong over what Micheal does or doesn't do and, let's be honest, we've done that to death several times already. If we can focus on his material and constructive comments by those who have seen it then it will still serve good purpose.

Mikey

Just let me take the opportunity to say that I dont dislike you, I have taken time out to help, like a lot of other people.

You can be annoying, at times, as I can be, or the next man.

You can opt to learn from your 'mistakes', if you do.. thank the heavens.

Like Jay said, your technique, is fine. Needs polishing, but you are fairly good, for your age.

THEORY is where you need work. work on this, you CAN be great, you CAN be bloody awesome... you CAN be a well known magician.. in your 20's MAYBE.. .. you have a good base.. but thats what it is, a base.. build on this.. for the love of God..

we see a 14 year old with the POTENTIAL to be a star.. and to now you are wasting that potential... listen to good advice... and you will be on the right road...

I like you.. when you dont annoy me..

OK??
