Magicians

Well I went to see this movie a few days back, although not as funny as peep show it had its moments as well as a slight cameo by Ali Bongo. I'd recommend it I found the whole end sequence to be pretty funny, was wondering what you guys think of this movie? For those who don't know what I'm talking about "Magicians" is a new movie from the creators of peep show, starting Mitchell and Webb, if you don't know what peep show is then perhaps you unlike myself have a life and go out on Friday nights :P

Really want to see this. Went to see Mitchell and Web live last year and I love Peep Show, and I love magic, but I have no-one to go with me, so think I shall have to wait for the DVD

Don't get me wrong, I love Peep Show but I'm not a real fan of magicians. It is funny in places but it's not hilarious like Peep Show. I would give it 3 stars tops. it hasn't done well in film reviews either so it's not just me being mean!

It was more comady than magical, but still well worth watching!

Me and my friend were the only ones laughing at that movie, bit crude in places (mainly with the washed up magician Tony White) and well yeah. Peep show was better but I still found it pretty funny.

That's it, I'm going on my own to see it. I'll wear a wig and dark glasses and hide behind a big newspaper so people don't know who I am.

Obviously I'll put holes in the news paper so I can see the screen!!

Awww - Anaryn.....surely you must have someone you could go with?

Don't like the thought of you sat in the dark, wearing dark glasses, all by your lonesome :(

It's ok, means I'll have all the popcorn to myself... he he he... 8)

It's not my fault my real world friends have no taste..... and none of them appreciate magic either, I should disown them. I should have learnt when they said, and I quote,

"Derren who????"

:P

I'm not going to express an opinion on this movie because I haven't seen it myself. However, reading the review at the IMDb - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0841027/ - gives a good impression of lay people's view of magicians (that's 'magicains', not 'Magicians').

Finally got to see this film today. Wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. Andy Nyman in the writing credits? Interesting.

I happened to see this on my last flight over to the UK - ahhhh, happy happy - having never even heard of it before. It was about the only positive thing about flying Virgin. (Cramped seats, dimwit cabin crew and having to turn around 2 hours into the flight because someone was ill were the negatives).

I really enjoyed it. It would be fair to say that it doesn't exactly frame magicians in the most flattering light, but at the same time there are things in it that will probably amuse and register with magicians more than with the general public.

I did love the whole angle of one of the two main characters moving from traditional magic to mentalism, I thought that was quite nicely observed.

A pretty middling movie, but definitely one that I think most members here would enjoy.

Am I to take it then, that you are not in the mile-high club?

It wasn't worth the wait!

If you managed to see the trailer then you will have seen most of the best bits
