Michael Ammar's Complete Introduction To Coin Magic is fantastic, and you can't go wrong with J.B Bobo's Modern Coin Magic book!

I started coin magic about a week ago.

I went for Bobo's Modern Coin Magic and it's very good. I'm still considering purchasing "Mark Wilsons Complete Course in Magic" just to have another book really!

Let me know what you think if you get either of these!

The enlarged Bobo, "New Modern Coin Magic", now seems to be available in paperback for £6.00. I haven't seen it, but it must be better value than the Dover edition.

Do you mean the one with the extra chapters that usually goes for £30?
Are you sure? Where? Thanks.

It looks like it to me, but after a bit of digging it only seems to be available here, so it may be a mistake:

Probably worth contacting them before buying.

Michael Ammar's dvd is really good, you will find visual demonstrations of alot of effects found in Bobo's book. I gotta say that Bobo modern coin magic is a great asset to own, you will find times when you cant watch dvd's and the illustrations really help and break up the content into bite size chunks (if that makes sense) I hate reading but love this book. All the best with your practicing. 8)

I dont normally use props or fake coins, but 'coin in bottle' / 'bitten coin' are great tricks, and can be purcahsed from around £5 per coin (with sugested routines)

Also, 'coin unique' is an AMAZING routine, which blows people away and its cheap (around £18 - £35 depending on the coins you use - can get 10p and 2p, £1 and 1p and I have seen a £2 and 20p version) and is instantly resetable and wont be detected

As far as DVD's go, have a mooch on Ellusionist.com, their DVD's are good quality and quite price friendly :)

Have a look at Karl Fulves Self Working Coin Magic, there are some great ideas in there and it's so so cheap. I picked up my copy for about 50p from Amazon's new and used section.
