Some have recommended that you simply read through the book. Usually, I would too. However, as the books are a mass of effects from all over the place, I feel that there really is no set order in which to read them (Except for 'New Stuff'). Personally, I opened at random places, looked at what appealed to me, saw if it suited my style - and if so, I learned it. If you're not sure where to start, that's always a good. Of course, others may (and probably will disagree) >> It's just my way of doing things.
With reference to the above poster, Illusion is a beautifully simple trick. I'll certainly second that.
I'm going to list my recommended effects based on the assumption that you know no effects from the book (although I'm sure you do!!).
Reset is the obvious starter. A most beautiful trick - easily my most performed. I also recommend the Bizarre Twist and Invisible Palm (although I would think you may already have these within your arsenal!).
I'll also concur with the poster who recommended Overkill - it is indeed wonderful.
Interlaced Vanish, Limo Service, Las Vegas Leaper and Whack Your Pack are awesome effects too.
As far as flourishes go - I fully recommend trying to get to grips with Instant Replay. It'll take a LOT of handling though. For an alternative handling to Darryl's Hot Shot Cut, check out the late pages of volume three.
Moving away from cards, The Silver Elevator is wonderful (okay, so we're still partly on cards). Genuinely doing the afore-described now, Free Flight is a beautiful piece of magic when performed well. For some food related fun, have a look at Tic Tac and McGimmick.
I also fully recommend reading the 'Secrets of the Astonishing Executive' section fully - I often make use of several of these effects.
Finally, my biggest recommendation is the Tap Dancing Aces.
I apologise - for I have seemingly offered far more than a brief list of effects to look at, which you asked for, but instead listed a more conprehensive list. Either way, I hope you find what you are looking for in the books, and find my recommendations useful.
