Cards are sticking... :(

Postby Shadowspaz » Jun 2nd, '07, 03:59

My cards are sticking together. How do I prevent/fix this?
It's really starting to mess up my tricks.

I have never used my cards with my hands sticky in any way, shape, or form.

Also, I heard that sweat can do this. Whether this is the case or not, They still stick and the main answer I need is how to... un-stick them.

Also, they don't stick so bad that I can pick up one card with another. It mostly messes things up when I slide them for color changes. All help is wanted!

Thanks! ^_^

This thread was posted by yourse truly to ask about excessive card use. Some tips for extending the life of the cards is in there, too.

Also, it's best to make your first post by starting a thread in the "Introductions" forum and making, well making an introduction. Tell us what kind of magician you are, how old you are, what magic you like and what you hope to accomplish as a magician. Welcome to TM.

Using my powers I think he likes card magic. I have said it before and will say it again. I dont understand this "you havent posted an introduction so I wont talk to you" if you saw a foxy chick and she beckoned you over would you say "oh no we havent been fully intorduced"

Anyway time to get the new cards out. Also wash your hands before you practice.

I didn't say I wouldn't talk to him, in fact I think I gave him some good information. I just added that it would be polite to add an introduction to the forum.

Ok, sorry about the small over reaction. I personally hate it when people are excluded from a small group. (Well, techinically TM is a large group, but we're like a small family) :)

Sometimes when working outdoors I find that cards can become a bit sticky. I think it might be an atmospheric thing. I hate doing magic, particularly card magic, outdoors. Magic belongs indoors in a darkened room.

Actually, worse than doing card magic outdoors is doing the zombie ball outdoors. Particularly if there's a bit of a breeze.

If you insist on playing with yourself with cards in hand, this will happen.. I learned the hard way..

try to keep the 2 activities separate, but if you cant help yourself.. yes wash your hands afteward ( or just the one hand if your talented.. or small )

Also.. buy a card guard and use one deck for practice and a second one for performance.

You can buy some special lotions on the market.. not for playing with yourself.. for cardwork.. theres special lotion for the former!!

These lotions, combined with handwashing regularly and a cardguard should be enough..

if that fails.. you must stop masturbating

I definitely know that cards + outdoors + humidty does not bode well for the cards and from what little I know about England, I do know that it's often very humid.

I don't know where I heard this and I cannot speak as to the reality of it, but I been led to believe that if you put your cards in the refridgerator for a few hours, it freshens them up...Or, maybe that was overnight.

Worth a try if you really want to save them, I guess...

Mike.
