Jay Sankey's Underground Jam Junior

Postby Michael Kras » Jun 5th, '07, 21:05

Hello,

I had what I thought is a nice idea for a Sankey DVD yeaterday: Underground Jam Junior. Basically the same as Underground Jam, but this time featuring some of the great Teenage Magic Inventors in Canada and USA. A bunch of kids my age and a bit older who have created some great magic jam with Jay and teach the effects for a DVD. I pitched the idea to Jay, and he told me he really likes the idea. "However, it would most likely not sell well."

Just want to know, would any of you buy a project like this? Please let me know, and maybe I can repitch the idea to Mr. Sankey in time.

Thank you!

Michael Kras

I would watch it if it were part of something bigger, becuase on its own some people might think along the 'they cant be very experienced' line, which may or may not be right but its still the way alot of people would see it, hence it probaly not selling too well on its own.

That is exactly what Jay said to me. Even if they are very experienced and HAVE created some hard-hitiing, original magic, the public at large may not give it a chance.

I still think maybe they would though. A simple demo video could do wonders for it.

yeah but it would need to be blinding to convice some older people that younger people could do it. maybe gather some young magicians and make a script and maybe a trailer and the idea would go further?

There is a real stereotypical view of older magicians that young magicians either are total beginners or practise for two seconds and then perform poorly. This is not helped by the youtube videos that some idiots put out.

I went to a magic club recently and they had like a bring and buy auction thing. They were selling off these beginners videos and one older guy said ' why don't you give them to him (me) for free.' This man had never seen me perform magic and although what he was saying was very kind in offering them for free, this just proves my point.
