not quite the bias free place some think.

But the volunteers are from around the world and the site is checked almost constantly for factual errors. When you have almost everyone around the world making a website, it's pretty hard to establish bias.

Yeah, but Derren Brown is better than Criss Angel.

Anyway - can we please stay on-topic (and vaguely magic oriented)? I'm sure there are plenty of forums on the web for patriotic types to vent their impotent anger. I'm sure I speak for the majority when I say we have enough on our plates discussing whether mentalists should use cards or not - never mind bringing 200 year old wars into the mix as well.

As it now transpires that playing cards are older and more mysterious in origin than their darker brethren the tarot, does that now mean that it is not only acceptable for mentalists and psychic entertainers to use them in their routines, but ought to be considered essential if these performers are to be true to their roots and inheritance?

Madam. I shall have you know that British football hooligans are without parallel. I think they would make good cannon fodder for the British Army.

I started this thread off to impart some knowledge that may be useful to people and I have learned some good things too from some of the follow-ups. So its a shame that I, amongst a lot of other people, have to wade through such drivel regarding history that none of us were personally involved in. We're magicians afterall - and it would be nice to engage in dialogue with a community of like-minded people who can focus on the topic at hand.

If you can't add "magic" value to these forums then please, simply say nothing. Its frustrating, rude, and lets you down. Its not clever either.

By the way, seeing as I started this discussion, I just wanted to be the 52nd person to reply. Weird eh ?
