The Effect

http://www.danielmadison.co.uk/Lethal/

The underground card-manipulation and flourish DVD is back in black! After selling out just 3-months after its worldwide release, LETHAL has had a makeover and is back re-mastered, re-printed and re-packaged, ready for worldwide shipment exclusively from DANiELmadison.co.uk

27 stylish techniques, including aerial cuts, controlled flourishes, multiple packet displays, concepts, applications, revelations and jaw dropping card-stunts.

Bonus DVD Extras:

Lethal PDF companion with step-by-step instructions for selected flourishes

Cost

£20

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Ranges from easy to moderately difficult, though even for an inexperienced flourisher like myself everything on the DVD seems doable with some practice.

Review

Frankly, I love it. The flourishes are great and not excruciatingly difficult, on the contrary most of them are relatively easy. I greatly prefer this style of teaching to Dan & Dave's System, which I found virtually impossible to learn from. The camera angle is from the front (spectators POV) with Daniel running through the flourishes at a slow tempo (though not super slow motion like D&D) while pointing out the important actions with various hand taps and gestures. That may have not been a very flattering description but at least I found it very easy to learn from. The DVD also comes with an extra PDF file explaining most of the flourishes in writing.

For me the extra PDF file explaining some of the flourishes (not all but most) is a huge bonus. It just makes learning so much easier when you have something explaining the flourishes in steps.

The video is in black and white and the quality is intentionally left sketchy to go with the 'underground' feel that Daniel promotes. At no point did I think the video quality made it difficult to learn.

Edit: Daniel assumes you know the One-Handed Revolution and basic Sybil cuts.

Overall

9/10. I knock one point off because some of the flourishes are a tad repetitive, and essentially just variations on a theme, rather then a whole new idea.

I got the DVD, I think that the music is very catchy, some of the moves are kind of easy, but others actually take past experience.

that's to be expected I suppose, if they were all easy they wouldn't be as impressive!

so do you think you got your money's worth for it? please do tell.

i felt like I didn't really get my money's worth for dan&dave's "the system" :(

I actually think that It should be a bit more cheaper.

Dan And Dave don't know how to teach very well neither, I wish that they commented while they taught their every movement.

The same goes for Daniel Madison

Seems Daniel just put a message on his site saying that he has just received the last batch of Lethal DVDs from the printers and after this there won't be any more. So if you want it get it now I guess.
