Deck of 3s

Postby milesb » Jun 7th, '07, 18:49

Hi I'm looking for the name of this trick I want to buy. The magician shows spectators a deck. (flicks through it) then all of a sudden he does it again but it becomes a deck of 3's

Umm post an Introduction first maybe? You're not even a magician are you? But, you wanted to know, so I will tell you the answer to your question: A normal deck! We magicians are so good at what we do we can make a whole deck look like a deck of threes! Impressive, isn' it!

Bye bye.

*EDIT* I misunderstood the post. Like siege said, it's a svengali deck.

It's a Svengali deck, and can be obtained from most toy shops.

He didn't post an introduction. Maybe then we would be more into helping him. After all, we don't know if he is just some layperson trying to find out how a trick works.

Sometimes a simple PM to the person can be useful. He wasn't asking for secrets, so I gave him an explanation on why some of the comments were made, some advice on where to get the deck, letting him know that they might not all be 3s, told him not to buy any other tricks in the shop yet, pointed him to MWCCIM.

He has seen some magic and is inspired to buy it to perform. If this isn't the sort of person forums such as Talk Magic are going to help, we should be ashamed.

A PM to a person as your first post is not the right way to go and I don't personally see a problem with answering a simple question such as this one, as he would have to buy the deck to discover the secret so in a way, lay person or not, he's then entitled to the secret.

Did Seige reveal the secret in providing the right answer - NO! He answered like the gentleman he is.

As for an intro - I don't think that I've actually gotten around to posting an intro yet

I note a few names posting in this thread that were getting a rough ride themselves when they joined TM and now, all of a sudden they're dishing it out themselves!

Lighten up and show visitors what a friendly bunch we can be. There are a number of polite ways of saying no without being blunt, unless of course they are blunt themselves in which case........ tolerance and education may be needed.

We're a happy place so please remember this.

Sorry, I should have explained better. I sent a PM as a reply and explanation that people were quick to think that he was after the secrets, rather than buying the effect as he stated. There are so many times we get people asking for secrets, sometimes mistakes happen. So often, new members posts are just mis read, or not worded correctly. I've dished out to obvious secret grabbers in the past, but some posts need to be given the benefit of the doubt to start with. I agree that to PM a question on your first post, or few posts, is not on, but this wasn't the case here. Sort of proves my point that some posts aren't worded correctly, otherwise it would have been clear.

Darrel

I wasn't having a go at you and apologise if that's the impression that I gave. I read your post as saying that instead of asking a question in the forum as a newbie, PM someone instead.

Reading now it's obvious that it wasn't what you meant and as said, I was speaking generally.
