What is the name of this card trick?

Postby ogakio » Jun 9th, '07, 01:07

I bought this trick long ago and I regard it to be one of the best card tricks I've ever had. Recently I've lost the deck and want to buy the trick again, only I don't know what it's called, hopefully you guys can help me. :)

The trick goes like this:
I ask someone to think of a card, they tell me it. I then fan out the deck and their card is the only one that is face down.

How it works:
[Edited out: Sorry for posting it]

Can anyone tell me what this trick is called or where I could purchase it online? As far as I know it won't work with normal Bicycle cards (I've tried).

Thanks in advance!

Ogakio, it's not that wise to post the explanation for a trick on the forum. It's the kind of thing that can get you banned.

Thank you for the quick response, I'll do some searching and see if I can find it. Sorry about posting how the trick is done, must not have seen that bit in the rules.

As for an introduction, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to introduce :)

P.S. out of interest, does it require a trick deck or will any "good quality" deck work?

Inviz - just to be on the safe side, I'd probably drop your set up comments. It's bordering on exposure.

Also, I've pm'd you for a better method.

I prefer the brainwave deck where the named card is the only card face up in a face down pack. I believe it is a stronger effect (even though ID is already good) for two reasons:
1) To the spectator, there is no reference for you to arrive at a particular spot in the deck
2) You get another kicker in that the back of the card is a different colour to the rest of the pack. If the card they chose is a red card (with a red back) then I ask them what colout they think their card is. When they say "red" I immediately flick the card over (with a snappy flourish) and state "correct". Gasps all round, giving me enough time to fish out another prop !)

This is my favourite trick of all time.
