Hi..

I'm pretty new to all this stuff so this may sound like a really simple thing..

Which are the best (aardvarks) and where can I get them ?

You see I saw someone (well someone I was introduced to) do the disappearing cloth where he pushed a small bit of silk into his clenched fist, blew, and it vanished (had me fooled). When I asked someone he knew better how to do it I was told that he used (an aardvark), hence I would like to do the same.

How easy is this to do?

It's easy peasy. You know what you're doing but the audience don't so you have the advantage. Just practice with a silk and get used to the item by wearing it as much as possible in everyday life.

I'd say it was pretty hard until you've seen a teaching video on the subject, then it's easy peasy. Therefore I strongly recommend getting a video with it, can get them for around a tenner and you won't regret it.

Or a book....

seriously, 101 tricks with a TT is only a couple of quid from most places, and though it doesn't have many tips for use there are a lot of ideas in it.

I had that book and a TT and it wasn't till I got the Video that the book or TT became useful.

You really need to see the TT being used, to really catch on with how you can use it. Books just can't do this and as you say, 101 tricks with a TT doesn't even spend much time trying.

I think you can get a good idea of how to use one just from practicing in front of a mirror. That's how I learnt, and I have never had any trouble with mine.

I have seen one used and have some idea about doing stuff like this (I was actually taught some con magic by an ex policeman).

I will just start by vanishing a silk (that's all I really want to do at this point) and then get that to work effectively before I start experimentin with anything else.

If I struggle to make this effective then I think a dvd sounds good.. otherwise vanishing a silk is my aim..

Don't worry - this sometimes happens when we get passionate about our favourite activity. Magic, of course! I'll need to go and edit a few more details as they are a bit explicit so hope you all took good notes/copies!
