Foolproof!

Postby Michael Kras » Jun 10th, '07, 18:54

Hello,

I recently became engaged in a bet with a fellow magician. This magician organizes many lecture tours for magic's top names, and he has a very extensive knowledge of the art.

We will both see eachother at the CAM Convention, and this is the wager:

If I can fool him with a magic effect, he will give me $250. BUT, I he fools ME with a magic effect, I give him $50.

He said he wants me to win, but he can't force himself to be fooled. So, my question is, what are some good magician foolers? Like, foolproof effects that he would never guess? I might do Gary Kurtz's Anticipator, but I fear he may already know it. Anyone have good recommendations?

He has the cash in an envelope with my name on it, and he told me he would give me an easy one. But I still need to fool HIM to win anything.

Any routines and where to find them?

Michael Kras

Look up some obscure Harry Lorayne effects. Harry's ace tricks involving the HaLo cut are very deceptive. What type of stuff does the guy specialize in?

In Eric Mead's book, Tangled Web, he teaches a color separation/ace location trick that fooled many top close up guys because of its structure.

He speciallizes in card magic. I have a Harry Lorayne manuscript and may look through it.

What about a stooge? He (maybe?) hasn't put down any ground rules, so anything goes I presume.

Am I the only one who sees this as a bit wrong? Wheres my high horse oh look there it is. This I am going to "out trick you" idea is not a good idea? Mr Kras you are going to lose lets face it he knows what you are a capable of and what you arent.

Also a man who would enter a wager with a minor is not a man of good repute in my books. Also Micheal I am no expert on the law in your country but I suspect it will be an illegal act for him to have a wager with you.

Further more I think this harms magic this "I am so much better then you" premise. One could argue that it will spark creativty etc but would it really? It be will be taking candy from a baby.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

No, I won't lose. I now have a completely foolproof routine. Just a little bit of fun is all. What have I got to lose? $50? So what?

Hmm Fool proof? Micheal we have all seen your vids and we have all worked out how they are done. If this guy is the master magician that you say he is then goodbye $50. And I shall once again point out the morals of enterting a wager with a 14 year old. Also its just 50 bucks you may need it one day.

I for one feel the whole thing is wrong.

Fun is wrong? Joking! I understand your feelings. The videos I have posted are basic, I will admit, but don;t you think I would know more than what is in my videos?

Thank you,

A fool and his money are so easily parted... There's no such thing as a "foolproof" routine unless, of course, you mean that it's not going to fool anyone.

In all seriousness, you'd probably be better off putting your $50 on a toss of the broads than wager it on this bet. So far, you've yet to fool any (well, many) of us.

Ciao,
Rob

I think he is probably teaching you a lesson.

If he is who you say he is then i doubt you will be able to stump him.

I'm sure he will just say to you come back when you think you are good and ready and not take money off a 14 year old.
