Top 5 effects?

Postby Trickyfied » Jun 8th, '07, 00:15

What are your personal top 5 tricks, effects or gimmicks? :?: :?: :?:

Mine are:

1)Stigmata - Sorts out those tricky specs and really gets people worried, is it voo doo? LOL

2) Stoping my pulse - Causes great concern and drops jaws.

3) Strange Traveller - Love this card effect, allways leaves the spec with a big smile or an open mouth.

4) Coin Unique - Pound and penny in specs hand I then close their hand into a fist real hard causing their bones to click  and the penny ends up in my hand, great reactions from this.

5) A simple DL routine I do with a mock black jack game - Spec gets dealt a black jack and Magi a red jack, Magi rubs the red jack on the black jack and they switch places, Magi now lays down the black jack!

Come and add your top five

Magic London, what's your effect with coin Unique? Pound and penny coverd by a glass and after swirling the glass the penny vanishes and apears on top of the glass is quite cool.

Cards:

The "Chicago Opener"
Card-at-any-number
Ambitious card
Three card monte
A slow-motion three card monte

Coins:

Some goofy effect off of the Flicking Fingers DVD
Coin-to-pen cap
Goofing off with some palming and such just to confuse people
That's about it...

Misc. Closeup:

Some goofy effect with nuts and bolts from Doc Eason's Bar Magic DVD set
Cups and balls, of course!
Rope routine (based on Sanders' Fiber Optics)
Torn-and-restored bill-to-fruit
Sponge balls on occasion
Vanishing hanky to mouth on occasion
More goofing off with coins
That was six, wasn't it...?

Oh, well. Rules are meant to be broken on occasion. That's pretty much my entire magic repertoire. I'm getting involved in mentalism as well, so that's a different story altogether.

Ciao,
Rob

P.S. Gimmicks are of the devil!

1 - Deep Astonishment 2
2 - Third Degree Burn
3 - Heirloom
4 - Beyond ESP 2
5 - Between The Lines

Guess I've defected, and gone somewhat mental :?

In order (1 - best)

1 - Brainwave deck

2 - Heirloom

3 - Entourage

3 - Coin unique (£2/2p)

4 - Stealth assasin wallet

5 - Neither blind nor stupid, by Juan Tamariz (Lessons in magic Vol. 1 DVD)

P.S Entourage, in my experience of over 20 years, is the best close-up packet trick in existence. Worth the money for the effect, the ease of use, the reset and the sheer impact on spectators.

Im a gimmick man myself, but I do love my card and coin and sleights aswell, but my top 5 have to be:

1.Stigmata - Never ever have I had anyone come close to guessing how this effect is done, nor spot anything

2. Self Tying Shoelace - So simple, yet so effective, and causes uproar when done out of the blue. I tend to let someone comment on my laces being undone, then flick them back to their tied state, and casually carry on talking, everyones faces are priceless

3. Interlace - A recent addition to my magic collection, but amazing, and is impossible to explain. Works well with STS, as you can perform STS, then do your laces back up, continue, and a while later perform the ring flight miracle, causing everyone to be in disbelief about the 2 miracles just created with your laces!

4.Sinful - Coin in can miracle, again totally inexplainable, and mind boggling, especially when you get the moves down to a Tee

5. Its a very simple, standard gimmick, which I think is undervalued, and unappriciated, the TT. I have many of amazing routines with mine, and I it is the sort of gimmick which enables you to produce many miracles. One of my many favourites is making the spectators lit cigarette dissappear with my bare hands in their T shirt, they are always worried I will burn their shirt, but there are no marks and it has completely vanished, only to re appear in my shoe. The same can be done with many signed objects. Its a genius invention, and should only be available to those who are serious about magic, not in little kids 10 + magic box sets which I have recently seen it in. That is a joke!

So in conclusion, my top 5's do indeed involve many gimmicks, but I feel they are the strongest pieces of magic, and I love tricks which are impossible to explain.

my top 5:

2)ID - i mean...come on!
3)jumping gemini - an effect that stays close to my heart - the first proper sleight of hand effect I learnt
4)A card routine that i do to music - i really like it :D
5)just a standard back palm and multiple carnidi productions. when done out of the blue the specs are stunned!

Love
