Hello from India

Postby jayesh » Jun 13th, '07, 10:12

Hi all,

This is jayesh from india.

About me and my magic :

I didnt learn the magic ideal way. Learnt few things, tried, practiced and performed and people were astonished. But received Gr8 reactions only from strangers.

Now I want to put all the hardwork into learning sleights and presentation, confidence magic needs to make my reputation.

So basically, I want to go from amateur hobbyist to Working Pro, So I am taking the first step by introducing myself on this forum.

I would also like if someone or people on talkmagic with so much experience to help me in my journey to magic. In india, its hard for me to find any magician friend or club or mentor. So my only source of learning is from Internet.

My current learning strategy

Daryls - Encyclopedia of Card Sleights (DVDs)

Learning Sleights from the above DVD.

I also want to read material on magic. on following topics.
I will appreaciate help if anyone could guide me for choosing books to read on following topics or Topics I should read in the beginning of learning magic.

e.g. misdirection in magic, confidence, What not to do while performing magic ?

Thanking people in advance,

Regards,
Jayesh

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

books?

Postby jayesh » Jun 14th, '07, 05:43

Can anyone tell me more about books to read?

I can see everyone prefers Mark Wilson Book Complete Course in Magic.

Can someone tell me what topics are covered in this book ? As no site has mentioned about the content in the book.

Hi Jayesh,

Firstly welcome to TM. :D

Marki Wilson's Complete Course is a great book. It contains so much material about all different areas of magic.

There's a brilliant card section there, the coin section is very good too.
There's mental magic, sponge balls, cups and ball, stage illusions, improptu magic using things like ruber bands, string and other things you might find laying around. There's a make at home section, which contains lots of different props that you can make yourself.

There are some brilliant ideas in that book, it's well worth getting.

Hope that helps :D
