Maybe buy some books on the list, not ones not on the list. That's the reason for this list.

A 'Must watch' I feel is 'Still Fancy a Pot of Jam' by James Brown.. if its in a misdirection category. Although it doesnt really TEACH misdrection, there is a hell of a lot that can be learned by watching James in action

www.youtube.com/brum2redmagic !! Youtube Project started.. early days

Reading: Nothing right now
Studying: loving band redemption
Performing: Speechless, Stand up Monte, Coinvexed,

I'd like to create a misdirection category if there is enough material. What of Secrets of Indirection, for instance? Maybe the list should get topic oriented.

Agreed on the Pot of Jam DVD. For misdirection I've heard that Tommy Wonder's material is great (I believe James mentioned this somewhere too), though I haven't read any myself.

For the advanced coin magician I'd say Bertini's Revolutionary Coin Technique is the best thing I've seen done with coins but I'm not sure whether it should be listed here.

"Giacomo does some of the finest and most innovative magic I have ever seen." -- David Roth

That speaks volumes IMO.

OK, let's find a partner for the Jam DVD, a book or books.

Not a must. Good, but would only really fit into a section called "I want to be Derren Brown" :)

For stagecraft/showmanship, I suggest:

Win The Crowd by Steve Cohen.

Underated and very, very useful.

Would that be more oriented towards stage work than close-up of has applications on both?

It has applications for both if you are into suggestion, phrasing your words for maximum effect, body language, etc.
It's a slim but well written tome but I think every magician who reads it and follows the exercises and thinking patterns within will find their performance improving.

There are few 'tricks' as such taught in it, but it's got some invaluable advice regarding presentation and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their performance be they magician, mentalist or hypnotist.

It's reasonably inexpensive too.

Also, for the hypnosis section, I always recommend people read Jonathon Chase's Deeper & Deeper before they invest in Ormond's essential, but expensive, encyclopedia.

I am certain Markdini will agree with me on this...

Actually it was Markdini who convinced me to take it out :)
