And here is why. It is any excellent book and will give your good grounding in the subjects in Ormands Enc. It is cheap and easy to understand. I do see it has a primer to Ormand. I think you can get on with Ormand with out it.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Okay, I could be wrong here, but to my knowledge, "Apocalypse" (Lorayne) has only 4 volumes. At least, that's all that I have and I was convinced that I had the entire set...Am I wrong?

That's been on the list for ages. Maybe a separate Gambling sleights section encompassing Weapons of a Card Shark and some Ortiz or Marlo bits.

The request for Gambling was literature about the subject of Gambling, Poker, etc.

Thanks for the comprehensive suggestions. As I've said to others, I tend to wait until people comment positively before putting them up on the top post.

If I'm wrong I apologise but the books listed are all technique books are they not?

Out of interest are there any books on the history of Magic and famous magicians?

Would this be worth adding to the sections? After watching the UKTV Magic series I thought it may be interesting to add something like this, if it exsits?

Excellent idea, but for the fact they are not really MUST reads.

Maybe another list on another post.

a few books that may be of interest..

The Royal Touch by Cellini.. cellini was the king of street performers and this book is worth its weight in gold to anyone whois even considering streetwork/Busking

The Magic of Matt Schulien.. Matt Schulien ran a VERY succesful bar in Chigaco up until his death when his sons took over their fathers mantle.

Carnycopia by John Carney.. every intricate detail of how John performs these effect is covered and so teaches misdirection as well as killer effects

anything by Jennings for cards
anything by Ortiz for gambling

Im guessing that most of these will be overlooked as they are not Big Names to the majority of TMers but they hold a massive wealth of knowledge

Exactly what I'm after mog. There are many "standard texts" like RRTCM, but there are also, often small, books which are just superb. Count, Cuts, Moves and Subtlety is one of the few books I've read cover to cover numerously.

If you're an Ortiz fan, maybe you can recommend a useful source of material on the subject of gambling and cheating. Useful for background knowledge for routines. He himself warns of the dangers of performing themed routines with limited knowledge of the subject in hand.

just had a thought... in "at the card table" by Ortiz theres an effect " The Vegas Shuffle" that shows how a card cheat can control cards during shuffling. each time is more imposible than the last... a great effect for a gambling based routine.

Also havent read it but theres another book by Ortiz about gambling scams

"Gambling Scams: How They Work, How to Detect Them, How to Protect Yourself"
