Paul Harris Books

Postby Michael Kras » Jun 21st, '07, 15:45

Hello,

I just purchased the Art Of Astonishment books, and they are by far the best books I own. I carry them with me everywhere I go! I am obsessed with the magic of Paul Harris. The magic is just my style. Only problem is, I am overflowed by over 250 effects and have no idea which ones are the best to learn. They all seem great but I want to learn the worthwhile stuff. So far, I have learned:

The Cardboard Connection
Bizarre Twist
Bizarre Vanish
Screwed Deck
Tap Dancing Aces
Machine Gun Aces
Million Dollar Mind Reader
Think Of A Card
Flapjacks
PH Breakthrough
Bleached Blackjack

Can anyone recommend any good effects I should learn? Any hidden gems in these books that are overlooked because of such effects as Reset of The Invisible Palm, and where to find them? Your time is appreciated!

Thank you!

You must have rather large pockets, then.

I carry them by hand, looking like a freak at school, but hey, it's worth it for the anytime, anywhere astonishment :).

Do you perform as you read out the instructions? that may give the game away slightly?

my thoughts exactly seige

Upon the ecommendation of an experienced magician, I sourced volume 1 and have started to read through it and can tell I am going to have the same problem. I've committed to reading the book in it's entirety before I start to try to learn anything, but I'm definitely taking notes of the tricks that interest me and where they are in the book so I can come back to them as and when

I know, and understand what you are saying. BUT, all I asked is for some good effects to study. Thank you.

You learn at a much faster rate to me, or maybe you define 'learnt' differently.

Illusion is also an excellent effect from volume 1. I performed it for one of my mates once, who is also a magician, and he was like:

'Yeah, i've seen this one bef..... WOAH!'

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...
