The End All Discussion Of Criss Angel ...

Postby Josh Clarke » Jun 26th, '07, 00:50

Ok so I've met the guy. Funny story actually. I was in Las Vegas for my 1 year anniversary and my lady and I noticed Criss Angel's store in the Luxor. Someone announced Criss would be down to sign autographs and take pictures shortly. My lady then decided to "go to the bathroom" and ask his production crew if he'd do a trick for me since it was our anniversary. They assured her he would and were very polite. A few minutes later, here comes the entourage. My lady again sneaks off (maybe she should be the magician) and asks his bodyguards if he'll still do the trick for me. They suddenly become very rude and start going on about how busy Criss is. My lady is obviously upset. Now we're in line to get our picture with Criss and my lady has filled me in on how rude the bodyguards were. We get our picture and as we're walking away I turn and give the bodyguards the finger. Except only Criss was looking right at me. Not what I intended. He finishes his pictures and then starts to walk right towards me. He actually confronts me about giving him the finger! I explain to him what the problem was and he apologizes. I tell him I'm into magic and we discussed a few things for a little while. Then, as a gift for our anniversary, he gives me the "Sinful" DVD and autographs it. He seemed geniunely concerned that we were upset and was very polite. He was also enthusiastic that I was into magic. So, despite his "methods" of doing magic, he's a great entertainer and from my experience a very nice guy. I never did get to see him do a trick, but he did give me one which is better in my mind.

WOW! Amazing story! What exactly did Criss say to you about the obscene gesture you made?

He just came up and said, "Hey, I saw that .. was that directed at me?" Then I felt stupid. Most entertainers wouldn't care. We would've been just 2 expendable fans, but Criss really wanted to make things better.

Ahh.. I always thought he was a good man. He should have been concerned. I would do the same thing.

I don't see why people continuously jump on Criss and bash him. So he uses modern technology for SOME of his illusions, so what? It is entertaining to the public and it makes a good name for us!

OOH but my friend Hiawatha, who worked with Criss Angel on Mindfreal, says that He was a magic consultant for Mindfreak and designed 3 effects for Criss. Criss used them, but gave no credit to Hiawatha whatsoever, even in the credits! He also doesn't ASK to use effects for the show, but he confronts to effect creator and TELLS them he is going to use it.

Ahh well... at least he is polite, anda good showman. He just needs to work on giving credit where credit is due.

I guess I could've used this instead as better proof. Look at my lady's upset face. :(

He's a really nice and social guy, you can tell by the way he interacts with kids on his show.

Yeah he does look stoned. Funny thing is my lady didn't want to be in the picture. She just wanted to take the picture, but they wouldn't let her. Criss said his bodyguards always take the pictures. I guess he needs to control his angles even when he's just having a photo taken. :D

Yeah when I clean up I can look pretty nice. But why on earth was I making that face? Oh and look at the picture again ... the lightbulb is there, in my hands. I'm putting the wax and thread on it.

My cousin's been in Las Vegas for the last couple months for his job. He told me he went out one night and saw Criss Angel and asked him to do a trick. Criss first did his levitation onto a chair (the one he explained how to do on his DVD, not too impressive once you know how it's done), then he did a much more impressive levitation in the middle of the sidewalk with no cables. My cousin sweeped his leg under Criss's and then swiped his hand over Criss's head. No cables. He wasn't very high off the ground, but without cables under him or over him (and his feet visibly off the ground) it was still mighty impressive. He got pics, but my cousin's in them, so I don't know if he'll want me to put them up on the net. For a finale Criss asked my cousin if there was any certain thing he'd like to see Criss try (this came across to me as slightly cocky behavior for a magician). He told Criss he wanted his money to double, so Criss had him take a bill out of his wallet and sign it. He took out a twenty and signed it. Criss turned the twenty into a fifty, and my cousin's signiture was on the face of the fifty. Then he turned the fifty into a hundred, and my cousin's signiture was on the face of the hundred! He then turned the signed hundred into a signed twenty, and, as a finale, waved his hand over the bill and the signiture was gone. I've got some pics and my cousin's wife got it all on a digital camcorder. I've seen the video (they emailed it to me). It all looks awesome. I'd say all-in-all he is an amazing street performer rather or not you like his TV show.

Last night I prayed that God (otherwise known as Criss Angel) would put a million dollars in my bank account. It happened.

On the downside, my signature keeps disappearing from off of my checks, so I'm still stuck.

I'll pray again tonight and let you know how it goes...
