The Ecology of Magic

Postby taneous » Jun 28th, '07, 10:35

I have recently been reading "Mystery School" - a compilation by Jeff McBride and Eugene Burger. It's a stunning book.
One of the chapters includes the introduction to a book by David Abram - a magician, but also a philosopher, called "The Spell of the Sensuous". I was particularly inspired by this and it really helped a lot with some of the things I've been exploring with regards to magic. I wished I could make copies for a number of people. Fortunately, I've found it published over here:
http://www.primitivism.com/ecology-magic.htm - so if you want you can have a read.

It really articulates some of my understanding of 'real magic' - and a whole lot more..

I have his book on order and look forward to sinking my teeth into it :)

Blimey... that's deep.

Sounds like something John Lennon would write after a night out with Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison.

The Doors

Hello Seige,

Oh I love the Doors and Jim Morrison so. I even have a Jim Morrison shrine in my house, it's a bottle of tequila with a gila monster sitting next to it. May the Lizard King always inspire.

Love,

Hello Taneous,

Wow, what a truly fascinating article for a simple country girl. It really spoke to me. Thank you so for sharing that. I would love to get that book too.

Love,

Very interesting. It reads a lot like something by Dr Lawrence Blair (the UK anthropologist with the eye patch).
