Goodness,
What a strange turn this whole conversation is taking. I don't even know where to jump in or even if I dare.
As for the "bat cave," golly, it's just my magic workshop and training barn. I mean, well, it meets my needs and all and I guess you are right, in a way it is sort of like a mix between Batman's Cave, The X--Men's Danger Room, the workshop from The Illusionist, and Zorro's cave. I feel so blessed to be able to have it. It is a work in progress, just like my acts and shows, and every day it grows a little bit more like me.
Sure, there are lots of climbing ropes and balance beams and heavy bags and a bagua circle, and training equipment of all kinds, and there's tools and finished and unfinished Illusions and notebooks and tables and double wide swinging loft doors on both ends on the 2nd floor overlooking the creek and all but it's just a workshop.
That being said, oh my gosh, I would so love to have all of you over for a party, would that not just be the grandest thing? We'd camp in my yard, some sleeping in my English styled witche's cottage (and yes, I do have an 8 gallon cast iron cauldron next to my hearth), some in tents, some in my gypsy vardo. We'd dance around outdoor fires by the creek while drumming on my 55 gallon wine barrel voodoo drum, and hope the bears and mountain lions don't get too many of our group (yes, they really do come into my yard at night). We'd stay up all night sipping wine (well, not the youngsters, of course), and inventing Illusions and playing with my magic tricks and showing each other our own magic skills and stunts and illusions and acts. Oh the fun of it all. I really hope one day to have a huge party of everyone.
As for photos, well, it is my workshop and a girl has to have her secrets. After all, we are talking magic here and not knowing a secret is what makes it fun.
Now I realize that I'm not exactly fitting into this whole conversation and that most of what you all have said is way beyond me but I did want to at least send hugs to everybody.
So, before going, I wanted to point out here that even in this description of a work space, there is a magical lesson here. We are how we work. And if we dream of magic and make our space magic, then, we can find magic within ourselves for it will be all around us and within us. I like my magic workshop but I built it for me, for my style of our art, so I really have no idea if anybody else would like it. Yet, all that really matters is that it meets my needs. It is where I go to dream. I sit up in the loft with the doors swung wide open, my bare feet hanging over 15 feet of air as I let the magic of the running creek feed my imagination and I listen to the wind in the trees tell me if the waves at the sea are big enough to surf.
Hugs to everybody and welcome to Amanda's Magical Barn.
Love,
Amanda Angeli
