I saw a change bag routine I liked recently and want to do a version based on it. You have 2 people sitting about 10 feet apart and show the change bag empty. One colour silk gets put in by person A, but when you walk accross to person B, they say it,s a different colour. Walk back to A, who says it is the origional colour. Ends up changing colours, then vanishing etc. Sorry, it's the bare minimum I have written. I have no problem with using the change bag, know it's a 3 way etc etc. What I do want to do, is move the change bag away a couple of times, just as they are putting the silks in, so they drop on the floor. Nothing new in that, but I was hoping for some advice how you practice the timing? I'm thinking that the more experience you have, the better the timing. Do you have to allow for it in your script, then time it as best as you can, hoping you get it right? It isn't the end of the world if it doesn't happen each time you want it to I suppose, but I can't figure out if there is any other way to practise.
2nd question.
I have always got the children to call out their favourite magic word before, but was trying to think of one which would be both unique ( I hope! ) to me, plus would be easy to identify me to people. I thought of using "the power of 3" that seems to work and came up with "Miles More Magic." Is this too corny, too long, not magical enough?
3rd question.
If all the "funny" parts of a puppet routine are used, eg, the hypnotism, look don't see plus a comedy routine is used, would this be alright for a wide range of children, up to and including teenagers? The idea is to take away some of the ahh factor that the youbger ones would like, but put in funny parts. Would teenagers take it as comedy with a puppet, or think of it as a childrens puppet routine?
Any ideas, constructive criticism, comments welcomed please. Thanks.
