Try the works of Lee Asher www.leeasher.com or the Buck Twins. Lee's flourishes are pretty darn easy to master but look like it took you years to learn and perfect it. He is a good friend of mine and I have seen him perform these things. Perfect.

Forget XCM to start with. (Xtreme Card Masturbation).

Learn some basic card handling techniques first. I really can't see how Lee Asher or the Buck Twins would be of any use to you at this stage to be frank (but Michael knows best—after all, I've only been doing magic since about 14 years before he was even born ;))

I would recommend that you start off by getting some decent decks of cards, and possibly invest in Xtreme Beginnerz (Handlordz).

Work your way through there, and see if you get the knack. Some people can, some people can't... it's possibly a bit like learning the piano in terms of whether you'll stick at it.

Um yea, go with Dan and Dave buck and not 'Lee Asher'. Dan and Dave are well known for being top of the field in XCM, and their new DVD out 'Trilogy' Is a complete overview of XCM, then card magic... i hear it's very good.

Trilogy is like 60 dollars though, if money is an Issue Xtreme Beginners is good. Do you have a backround in magic or want to just go into XCM? I suggest getting down the sleights of basic card tricks before XCM.

Maybe your trying to buy it from Ellusionist.
Listen here. Magic is pretty inexpensive compared to other hobbies. Photographers have to buy a $2000 camera then 600$ lenses...
Guitar plays have to buy A 1200$ guitar and a 1000$ amplifier
Magicians have to buy a new deck of Blue Bicycles ever month and a half.

Yes I agree, start with Xtreme beginnerz and buy it from Handlordz.. De'vo might even sign it himself for you!! :P

After this, perhaps move onto Showoff by Brian Tudor.. there are some neccesary moves on there in order for the following stages, so get this and learn the one handed revolution cut and the sybil cut.. and what the hell happened to sybil cut, and bad habit.

You may then be at a stage to move onto The system by the buck twins though this stuff will take you AGES to get down smooth.. be prepared to put in the practice. You are easily looking at 1 years worth of practice here to get these to a comfortable level .. all the above that is.

Magic can be an inexpensive hobby but I disagree with the rest of the comment.

A professional or serious hobby photographer will buy a $600 camera and a $2000 lens as that's where the quality is. Someone starting to learn photography or play the guitar can easily get by and a second hand camera or guitar for $50!

If you want to keep your magical expensese down then books are most definately the way to go.
