Ribbon Spread Force

Postby GoldFish » Mar 16th, '04, 11:16

Im working on an effect that has a really simple handling but pretty shocking ending. Basically it involves a spectator freely choosing a card from a ribbon spread. One way of pulling the effect off is to use the Ribbon Spread force (labeled "Table Spread Force" in Expert Card Technique) but the method seems some what sketchy. If anybody has had experience of this force and has used it in a workable situation I'd be glad for your input and advice.

Cheers,

Fish

Ok, I just audience tested the effect for the first time and the Ribbon Spread force worked. However, the spectator who I testd it on isn't known for her sharp mind or logical thinking so I'm still unsure whether this effect is fool proof. If there's anybody who uses this forces regularly or has had experience using it I'd be grateful of some feed back.

I have used this force in the past, but rarely do so anymore. It's a huge psychological gamble, so when I use it I'm always prepared to go into a trick that doesn't require a force. To make it work more effectively, make your spread very consistent and pick a spectator who you think will not try and "outthink" you, as with any force. When I use it, I'd say it works a little better than half the time, maybe 65%. The only times I use it now are in an effect where I want to make SURE the audience thinks there's no possibility of a force.
