It can't be an new trick

Postby martingouin » Jul 10th, '07, 16:06

Ok, I work with teenagers and they know i do card magic. One of the kids showed me yesterday a trick that he say he INVENTED. Well... I asked him to show me. Now, here's the presentation: I shuffle the deck. He takes it. Count 26 cards face up. Replace them under the pack. Put one card face up. (all faces counts for 10, the others for the numbers they are) and put cards under that one until the count is to 10. (if you have a face, you don't put cards). Does that for 3 cards. Now, let's say the 3 cards were a 10, an 8 and a 5. He adds it (23) and count 23 cards and tell me wath the 23rd card is.
I figured out his trick but i would like to ask if someone knew that trick.
Thank you!

I know a similar trick, same idea at least just presented a little different and I've met loads of people that know it. I believe a bunch of my school mates in around grade 3ish(1993) were doin that trick. He may of changed the presentation and he may of "made" the trick up with out anyone showing him it but he didn't invent it.

Blimey... it's NOT a new trick... it's a 'New Year's Eve' trick.

It's one of the ones passed from grandparents to grandkids...

Sounds a little like Mindbender - perhaps you should jump on the band-wagon, and market it Seige?
