Bizzare or Cros?

Postby GoldFish » Mar 16th, '04, 11:41

For those of you who are familiar with the Bizzare Twist and the Cros Twist Effects, both from Paul Harris' Art Of Astonishment Volume 1 (i think? I'll check).

Which method do you favour? The Bizzare Twist or The Cros Twist?

All the best,

Cros twist every time for me.

It's cleaner, and almost so deceiving that it actually looks like real magic. Plus, the Cros twist has the advantage of being performed one-handed - and as a non-gaff effect, I always find being able to perform a sleight one-handed to be beautifully elegant and pure.

For those of you unfamiliar with these sleights, they are basically the foundations for 'twisting' sandwich effects, such as:

"You sandwhich a face down joker between two aces. You wave your hand and the joker turns face up. The audience is amazed, but you state it "didn't work." You try again. Instead of turning over the joker turns red."

And yes, this is done without the use of gaffs!

Well being that I haven't yet received my copies of Art of Astonishment  I'd have to say Cross Twist (worked it out from the PM demo) it's one of my std tricks when someone says - can you do a trick for me

Sorry, I don't think that I made it that clear at first. The poll is more for the actual slight rather than the effect. But yes, the cros twist effect is very good. What I wanted to know was which method do you favour in conjunction with any effect, not just the ones quoted in the book.

I hope this is clearer now.

;)

I stand by my post (which I've corrected), which was also misleading:

The EFFECT I posted is what can be achieved using this sleight (aside from many others)

However, I favour the Cros twist 'sleight', for the reasons stated ;)
