Cros twist every time for me.
It's cleaner, and almost so deceiving that it actually looks like real magic. Plus, the Cros twist has the advantage of being performed one-handed - and as a non-gaff effect, I always find being able to perform a sleight one-handed to be beautifully elegant and pure.
For those of you unfamiliar with these sleights, they are basically the foundations for 'twisting' sandwich effects, such as:
"You sandwhich a face down joker between two aces. You wave your hand and the joker turns face up. The audience is amazed, but you state it "didn't work." You try again. Instead of turning over the joker turns red."
And yes, this is done without the use of gaffs!
