Name This Trick Please .......

Postby moonbeam » Jul 10th, '07, 20:48

Performer places 2 decks on the table and asks spec to choose any deck - it's a free choice, whichever deck they choose, is the deck that is used.

The other deck is placed face down on the table for the time being.

The performer fans the cards of the chosen deck and the spec points to any card - no force, it really is a free choice. The chosen card is outjogged (spec can check that the outjogged card is still their selection if they so wish) and the whole deck, with the selected card outjogged, is squared up and placed back onto the table.

The top cards of both decks are now turned over to reveal that they are not identical. The next cards down are revealed and again they do not match. This continues until the outjogged/selected card is reached. The outjogged card and the corresponding top card of the other deck are slid forward, still face down. The rest of the pairs of cards are revealed and none of them match.

The remaining two cards that are currently face down (the selected card and its corresponding card from the other deck) are turned over and found to be an exact match.

This is quite a neat trick this. Say for example the spec chooses the 8 of clubs and it is 17 cards from the top, then the 17th card from the top in the other deck will also be the 8 of clubs - no other cards will match.

Anyway - does anyone know the source of this trick please ?

I've never even heard of it to be honest. Question though, did you see it performed by someone live? Because that sounds really interesting...

I have heard of this trick and read about it... but the name escapes me. I will look through some of my books...

I saw something very similar performed on YouTube. I came up with a method that works for this (and it's fairly easy to do - prob a 2/5, if that, in terms of difficulty).
I was actually wondering if this trick exists, if so - who's its creator etc ?
I don't know if my method is anything like the original - so I was actually thinking about revealing my method in the restricted area - I need to speak to a mod first.

This trick is really hard hitting due to the seemingly impossible outcome:
There are 2 decks - spec chooses 1 deck and from that deck they freely choose 1 card. This card is then outjogged and the deck is replaced on the table. The top card of each deck is now turned over to reveal that they do not match. The 2nd cards down are now turned over to reveal that they do not match .... this continues and it is found that the only cards that match are the selected card and the corresponding card in the other deck.

I'll wait and hear other people's views (and I need to speak to a mod) before I release my version of this in the restricted area.

Okay - I've had clearance from a mod to reveal my method in the RA so watch this space (well, not this space - the RA space  ).

I'd also like a name for this trick, so if anyone knows what it's called, shout it out  . If not - someone make up a suitable name for it please  .

No PMs please if you've no access
