Postby CiccioSPICE » Jul 12th, '07, 22:58

Hi all,
I'm looking for a deck useful to practice card manipulation; I have foung XTC deck, have someone tryed it? Is it really usefull? In another card shop, but I don't remeber where, I have found a "professional deck with modified grip", someone has experienced in this kind of decks? Are them really usefull?

to be honest my friend, the best type of deck to practice with is a normal one. and do NOT touch the XTC deck - pure s***!

get a deck of bikes or tallys, and you are set. If you wish, get some fanning powder, though I don't really use it.

Get a deck of bikes or tallys, break them in, and they shall do you well!

Love

I'll second that - Bike or Tally's. There's not much between the two and it's more of a personal choice.

If you're talking about the Bicycle Pro's with a modified grip then give them a wide berth!

Studs are also very nice. They have a nice soft feel that I like for fanning.

what kind of manipulation like cuts , xcm or production and fan but for production and fan i use Juliana's chan manipulation cards because it was so thin but for cuts i only use xtc because it was not smooth at all so it will be easier to cut but if you want to combine your routine with cuts don't use xtc because it have no smoothness at all so use bee or bikes.

thank you :D

I ran out of breath just reading that last post! Needs a couple of full stops or something.

For XCM you cant go wrong with the Bicycle or Tally Ho brand cards, but as you go further you may want to try the custom decks available from Ellusionist and other places. They do look flashier than regular cards, and tend to fan better and last longer than regular cards as well.

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

I just tend to order a brick of bikes and a set of 6 Bee decks - I personally think that Bee's look better for flourishes sometimes (fanning in front of spectators etc) but bikes are ace (no punn intended) for false shuffle style manipulation etc

Would comment on other cards, like tally ho's, but have never purchased them :S

Bikes are my preference though I like the feel of Tally Ho's and may get some more.
Magicbox do a Bike rainbow brick which as some great decks for colour changing routines, etc.

As far as I'm concerned, "manipulation decks" is just a way to get more money. a good manipulator can do it with ease with bikes, just practice!

Manipulation decks are useful for backpalms and productions since they have a MUCH thinner stock, making it easier to backpalm.

Anyway, get some Bikes or Tally's and be happy :).

Manipulation decks are generally needed in the sense of classic card manipulation for magicial effect (like back palming etc.)

When it comes to simple card flourishes or "XCM", there is no need for a special deck, just stick to simplicity and it will do you prefectly.
All these custom coloured decks might look good, but their colour is easily battered and worn off.

Get yourself some different kinds of variety under the Bicycle brand, but don't go for anything that is coloured completely (like Vipers or Tigers).
