Upon purchasing a new deck of Bikes yesterday, I discovered what seems like a very promising AD card: Custom Poker Chips.

We could do coin or poker chip effects with our logo on them.... they are actually quite cheap, very good quality and would make a good business card after some coin effects.

Has anyone else seen this? Has anyone done this? Does anyone see potentiaql in this?

think they been around for a while mike, they do look nice though. but i wouldnt have a use for them, i normally just give my specs a slap, that makes me unforgettable lol

Why you shouldn't do this:
1. Expensive. are you seriously gonna convince your parents to get you 200 dollars for a circle with your face?

2. Unprofessional. If I saw someone using these i'd laugh at them, I'd think their wannabe pros, a real pro would use the object everyone is familiar with

3. Unless your hosting the game of cards, not impromtu. if you're at a casino, your gonna use house chips, if your at a friends house, you'd use their chips, If you tried to use those in a game, I'd laugh at you.

Spectators want to see convention.
Want a business card? have them sign a card for a trick then put your phone number under it. people wont forget it

I absolutely disagree, Kenneth. They are not at all unprofessional, and using them in ways like Michael suggested would go over very well with spectators. Granted, there is a time and place for them, but they are indeed a wonderful marketing tool.

Real pros have been using custom marketing materials for many, many years - and will continue to do so. Giving out a business card is always a great thing, but sometimes that little extra will get you noticed.

As for the expense - in the context of working professionals, it's a marginal cost for something that can pull in business.

Can't you see it though. Last trick for a person you turn their poker chip into one with you face on it. (they might ask you for their chip though cause they might want to cash it in)

David Blaine and Criss Angel use their own "branded" cards. Nobody thinks they're wannabe pros. How would chips differ?

I know it's easy (and sometimes fun) to pick on Michael, but this time I think he has a good idea, albeit one that most people already knew about.

I really do like the idea of custom poker chips and decks of cards. If you included something like that in a marketing pack with a brochure etc, i think it could work quite well. Id probably also look at manipulation routines using the poker chips or a matrix effect. They also make slightly different give away items. Anyone who has heard Ammar talk about his pencils that are 'stuck' through a quarter will know that people keep unusual items

B) They show professionalism

C) If I do a Signed Card effect and let them keep the card, they have my website and contact information, which will do wonders for advertising.

I personally think that at your age, you dont need custom decks or chips. People like Blaine and Angel have their own decks because they are household names. The best suggestion is to just write your details onto their chosen card. save the money and invest it on some new bookson magic, and on marketing techniques.

Personally I would laugh if I got a personal poker chip from some one your age. Like its a joke.

I think it would work best for one that performs a lot of poker routines, and/or that works in a casino.

But just an average magician... no.. its just not needed.

Focus more on the magic.

David uses Bikes in his tv shows from what I have seen. His cards are rather new. Not even that great of quality.

Criss does use his own. Hes had those cards for a while.

Nobady thinks they are wannabe pros because .... they are pros!

a) Yes—for personal satisfaction and a small ego trip
b) They show nothing of the sort. They show egotism—unless you're a household name.
c) That's the only one which makes a small amount of sense.

Also pokerchips are just to big for my taste when doing (in my case trying to do ) a coin trick.
