New Eager Newbie

Postby unused[nl] » Jul 15th, '07, 13:50

Hi guys!

Just hoping in on the ship of magic!
I got interested in this after looking up some new ways to shuffle my poker decks while playing just for fun. Found some interested tricks and I am willing to learn more of it! Not for stage but for my own pleasure and when I am good enough I may impress my poker playing opponent ;)

Hope you guys can give me advice on how to start out, I am aware this isn't a teaching community but still I think you guys teach, not about a trick it self and how it works.. but how to start, what books to buy etc etc

If you're only into cards and need to start from scratch then the Royal Road to Card Magic is probably the most cost effective book to learn from.

Hi and welcome to TM  .

RRTCM is def the way to go by the way  .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Thanks for the welcome!

I will see if I can get a hold of that book! (side question, are those books expensive? I am a student you see :))

@Kubus
Cool :) I think it is smarter to keep it English it's easier for the others. I also hate it when people talk polish on a forum ;)
Sounds we are both here for the same indeed, just checked your thread. So where do you live? I live in Bergen op Zoom but after the holiday I am going to Eindhoven to study.

Welcome

I would also suggest Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic (I had it suggested to me here and I can't stop reading it.) It's a little pricey ($20) but its 500 pages of magical goodness.

Thanks all :)

I just ordered Royal Road to Card Magic which was suggested to me. It was 16 euro not a very bad price I think?

If you're into card magic, RRTCM is a perfect book for beginners. A nice one to use when you're a little bit more experienced is Expert At The Card Table by Erdnase.

Hello and welcome.

Good to see you've got Royal Road. As Donkeylord said, Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic is also very good.

Take care
Gary
