The problem is that someone with a great deal of skill CAN get away with it. For a little while, anyway...

They don't actually have to CATCH you in order to get rid of you. You might fleece them for a short time, but once they know that something is up, you're history. The biggest enemy is always the person. Even the MIT team got caught. Greed catches up to you - and eventually, even a perfect plan can get a bit sloppy.

themagicwand - have you ever seen the R Paul Wilson show where he takes a crew of magicians and cheats to see if they can cheat casinos? It was cancelled in the US (further proof that US television is nearly all garbage), but some of the scams they got away with were amazing.

I have the wonderfully interesting career of an e-commerce developer.

I make websites, and I create them in such a way that people can buy c*** (not the best) from the said websites using their credit cards.

I work at NASA, in the Space Exploration Division. I polish the rockets

I am actually a student studying to become a psychologist, or work in any closely related field such as psychological medicine. I plan to get a part time job very soon as a croupier at Star City.

Rounders and Double Duking

Postby Amanda Angeli » Jul 19th, '07, 03:31

I've always thought that a group of magicians would be the ideal team to come up with a system to win big at the casinos. We have all the skills - the sleights, the imagination & creativity, the ability the think on our feet and appear cool at all times, the psychological subtleties, the memory skills and the cold reading. Surely with that arsenal at our disposal we would be unstopable.

Hello Paul,

You are right, we would make a great team, and, I'm certainly up for it. Really, I'm not kidding, we could do this. The one thing you missed in your list was the ability to really play poker, to really know the rules and the ins and outs of the game. Many of us do card tricks but for those of us who specialize in poker cardsharping, those are the folks we need at least a few of. It would be so fun to set up a team and start training.

Deal me in. Sure, this just seems like a silly fun idea, but, other people have done it for real who weren't magicians, so, it's our time now.

Love,

Amanda Angeli

ah yes I can see it now, the squad of magi are leaving the casino with millions in winnings, only to be confronted by 7 very large men,the seasoned proffesionals hesitate not an instant as two produce large red silks, much to the dismay of their assiliants, the two magi glance at each other before hurling the silks to the sky, agasp the hitmen stand frozen as the magi stand armed with two canes etc etc blah de blah
=p

When confronted by two burly bouncers in dickie bows, the magicians simply looked at each other, winked, and vanished into each other's TT.

Or alternatively, disappeared in a puff of smoke. Or is that illegal now thanks to the smoking ban in public places?

I get paid for doing magic, but I mostly do acting jobs for the local theatre. Or maybe sound and lights for the theatre. I'm getting soo close to getting into the next babybel advert for tv. No joy as yet though.

All the best,
