I placed an order 8 days ago from Penguin Magic, and it hasn't even shipped yet. Quite frankly, I'm getting pretty pi**ed off about it. Anyone else experience this much BS?

No, any time I have ordered anything online, it's gotten here within 5 days. It's been 8 now, and still hasn't left the factory.

I live in Indiana. The closest we have to a magic shop is a family-owned store that sells masks, gags, and literally under 5 tricks.

They have changed alot of things at penguin.. one big thing is.. where they ship from.

Also, if you ordered anything from SOC that tends to delay it.

Also if your so ticked off... common sense says what? CALL THEM, TALK TO THEM. Complaing to a forum not even related to them will get anything done.

I see enough of this there at their forums.. I dont care to see it here. I come here because it used to be a more mature place. Guess that just flew out the window.

There's an important word in there. This just wasn't one of those times, for whatever reason. Perhaps they had a problem with their supplier - it happens.

Send them an email and take it from there.

Indeed, there's an important word being overlooked in this 'rant'...

From my own shop, I use the the following:

Any orders placed before 12pm on weekdays will be usually be processed that same working day. The aim is to despatch orders within 48 hours (Monday-Friday—we do not process/ship on Saturdays or Sundays, unless at our discretion or by prior arrangement) if items are in stock, and will normally take no longer than 3 working days to arrive after you have recieved a shipment notification.

Why do I cover my back...?

Well, here's a recent list of reasons:
1) Postal strikes
2) Post offices closed due to flooding
3) Unforseen circumstances like cars breaking down, power cuts, loss of internet access

I am not a big enough player to warrant a next-day CityLink or suchlike account, and so I have to rely on Royal Mail. And unfortunately, they're not always as prompt and reliable as they seem.

Be patient with online retailers. The new era of 'order now, receive tomorrow' expectations is causing a lot of problems.

Unless you specifically PAY for next day delivery (which can range anywhere from £2 to £10 on most items) then give it at least 7 days before you start raging.

It's been 9 as of today.

And yes, I understand it says "usually" ships within 24 hours. But that doesn't give them a reason to just look back and say "Well guys, we missed the deadline on this order and it won't ship by tomorrow. So what's another 8 days?"

And I very much doubt that it is a matter of them not bothering. No business would want to give that impression. Have you even emailed them yet?

Yeah and they gave me some crappy excuse about how being closed for Labor Day and the "massive" amounts of orders due to their latest offer have set them back, and now they're working "like crazy" to get caught up.

How can it take 9 days to get caught up for one missed day, even with the excessive amount of orders

OK, so if you feel they've not fulfilled their contract, cancel the order, demand a refund.

Otherwise, quit groaning and wait for the postman.

Its not saying it will though- they used to offer 24 hours or free- they changed that... they also have that usually 24 hours... but you read into it too much... as you are ignorant to the site. And I think your title of the topic has changed. I have been a memeber of that site for 4 years now. So I know more about them than you ever could... so dont give me lip.

I know how they work, I know they policys, and thier rules. I know how to handle them and work with them..

I at least dont go crying and complaining like a two year old... to another forum.

Just relax, think, 9 whole days to practice something you need to practice. I guarentee you that you really dont "need" what you ordered form PM to practice a trick that you know and like.

To get a trick ready to perform it takes 30+ hours of practicing. 3 hours a day for 9 days, thats 27! Almost there!

First of all, it's Bananachek - not Banachek.

Second, I don't think I own a single trick that I didn't learn within 5 or 6 hours of practice, maximum. Over half of my tricks I've gotten down in 2 hours flat. So if you're practicing 30+ hours for one trick, you're not going anywhere fast.

*sigh* It's not the trick. its the performance. Make everyone in your house think your crazy by standing infront of a mirror talking to yourself and doing card tricks.
Yea, the trick can be "Alright" in 3-4 hours, but give it your own take, dont just perform the trick you bought, spend time with it, make it so much your own that you can call it your trick, not "Blah Blah by So n So"

David Devant, a classic, perfect magician, was approached by a fan who said he knew 200 card tricks, Devant said "I know about 8".
