Daryl's Ambitious Card

Postby Daremyth » Mar 20th, '04, 22:48

The Effect
A card selected from the pack, signed by the spectator consistently and repeatedly rises to the top of the deck, even when the deck is tied with rope!

Cost
$29.95 at Penguin Magic for the DVD.

Difficulty
3, 5*

*5 applies only to one certain gaff.

In this DVD, Daryl does an exhaustive study of many of the most popular methods for controlling a card to near the top of the deck, ie, the ambitious card. The DVD begins with a performance to the standard L&L Publishing audience (:P), and then moves into the explanation of the routine. After that, Daryl explains some methods for performing the ambitious card which were not used in the routine, but he explains nonetheless. This routine won him a gold medal at FISM one year and the final ambitious move with the rope tied around the deck with leave you agape. Many of the moves in this DVD will be known to the advanced card worker, but the range of material is so great that even the expert will find something new. The final gaff for the roped ambitious card is the reason for the 5* in the difficulty, as the work required for constructing the gaffed deck is nothing short of astonishing.

Overall
8/10
Although many of the moves may already be known to the advanced magician, this is a wonderful reference for those who want to know every single method for controlling a card to the top and everyone can find something new.

EDIT: Just realized this is my first post. Hi :P

This is indeed a great dvd. With regard to the gaffed deck, if you buy a paper/card cutter thenit's actually not too bad to make (you can get mini ones for about £20 from WH Smiths).
