Chess Puzzle .......

Postby moonbeam » Jul 22nd, '07, 22:52

Whilst having a "friendly" game of chess, White's King has been accidently knocked off the board. Unfortunately no-one can remember who's move it is next and which square White's King was on.

Where does White's King belong and who's move is it next :?:

You'll need to show the previous few moves to corroborate your claim  .

I'm not saying if you're correct or not - but IF it is black's move - where does White's king belong and how did White's Bishop end up where it is without it checking Black in the last move - not explained very well, I hope you understand what I'm trying to say here lol  .

Yeah, but that's not the question...is it?

Not that I understand the question of course. I'm just trying to pretend I know what's going on.

Ah...white's king should be to the left of the black king (is it the king? Or queen?) and one row up. There is of course a grid style system for use in situations like this. Sadly I have no idea how that works. So all I can say is one square left of the black king/queen thing and one row up.

Otherwise white bishop would have checked black king/queen/thing last move and/or been taken by black castle.

I'm wrong aren't I? Tell me I'm wrong.

If we label the bottom row from A-H and starting at the bottom row going upwards, label them 1-8 so the bottom left corner is A1, top left is A8, top right corner is H8 and bottom right corner is H1.

Black's King is on D1 so White's King can't go on C2 'cos 2 Kings aren't allowed to "meet" (I'm assuming that's the square that you meant).

Been a while but Whites king would be KG3 followed by kc3 .Bb5! ,

Although if the king is knocked of the board shouldnt the the game be over due to resigning anyhoot.

I used to play quite regularly but I haven't played in about 3 years. I used to be quite good but I've prob forgot all my opening moves etc  .

I saw this puzzle on another forum and thought it was quite clever, so I thought I'd share it with other TM chess-playing members  .

I knew someone would mention about if the King was knocked over it's a submission lol  .

Errmm ..... anyway I can't understand what squares you're on about  Can you just put it in something like C2 format plzz. Bottom row runs A-H, side rows run 1-8 starting at the bottom.

Stick white king on G3 then black would move his king to C3 white bishop would take the black castle.

Or wouldnt the white player get to choose where he put his king so longs he aint in check.
