Now I know this may annoy some of you, infact I am certain of it. Having recently seen a magician at a party, I was very dissapointed it was all a bit cabaret. I know that the magician himself may not have been the most skilled, he just seemed to be magician/clown I don't know how to explain it. If you understand this, is that what you usually find with magicians? People like David Blaine and Derren Brown, don't come across this way and thats the magic and entertainment I enjoy. I enjoy the mystery, and confusion. I love how David Blaine comes across as quite dark at times, and there is the feeling of "Hey this has to be magic". Is this just magic? I would love to have a mystery to my magic and owuld not like to come across as some cabaret, childrens entertainer. I am not knockign them just saying that is what I do NOT want to be,

Two things stand out as obvious answers to your query. Firstly, as in all professions, performers vary in both their talent and in the quality of their work from day-to-day. We all have off days, and you may have seen this performers on one of his/hers.

Secondly, Blaine and Brown etc., good as they are, benefit from TV in terms of editing, pacing etc. A live performer should never be compared to a TV performer. Even Brown is VERY different live compared to his TV work, for very good reasons.

Best,

Lee
