Escapology

Postby CircusKid » Jul 23rd, '07, 11:14

hey all,

I've gotten into escapology a little lately, im really into it and wondering if anyone could help me on where to find books, sites etc on it. And if it doesn't give away too much for you, where to start and some things to try (ive only really tied my hands in chains on tied on to stuff and gotten out of it). Also, where can i buy stuff like lockpicks, books, or anything else that will help me (im from australia, so australian stores would be better, but anywhere is fine).

Im new to the forums, so is this where i should be posting this? and are the questions about things to try asking too much?

thanks

Hi Circus Kid - welcome to TalkMagic

Before you do anything else, I would recommend you type "Escapology" into the Search engine (look at the top of the screen under the Talk Magic Title). Sift through the topics there. There should already be a few good posts.

Have fun

Hello Circuskid,

You will find that most magic shops supply form of escapology stuff.

To begin with I wouldn't go for lock picking, save it till you are more advanced. Start with the Siberian Chain Release, thumbcuffs and Electronic Release.

Have a look at Daniel Hunt's website, http://blackcatmagicuk.com/catalog/index.php He is a professional escapologist. The site will give you an idea as to what's available, although they don't post abroad.

Stuck in Ropes

Postby Amanda Angeli » Jul 23rd, '07, 20:42

Hello Circuskid,

You just so must go to http://www.cannonsgreatescapes.net/about.html

All of us who are into this art go here. They are a wonderful company and they will have all that you need, dream of, and imagine and more. They ship quick, they are reputeable, and they very helpful for your personal needs as you develop in this art. I personally have been very pleased with them and all that I have bought there.

There is just oh so much for you to explore. Naturally, chains and locks along with ropes will be the easiest things to start with. And then, once you decide where you want to go, you can branch off into handcuffs, straight jackets, and then all the advanced stuff just as barrels, cages, and so on. Start small, determine what you like, and then go from there.

The key thing is to practice. A lot. Read, study, watch dvd's and actually practice as much as you can.

The company I sent you the information on is here in California so it's a tad bit away from the Land Down Under but they do have some wonderfu handcuffs from your neck of the woods if that is where your interests lead.

There are not too many books on ropes and chains but a few here and there. But as for handcuffs and locks, goodness, it is a huge and exciting field of study.

Love,

Amanda Angeli
