Like most high schools, mine has an annual talent show. I heard from people who went last year (06-07 to be clear) that a guy who tried to do magic messed up and embarrassed himself. I never saw the guy, so I can't comment on his style or ability, but it sounds like he was a card person with poor foundations. A few people have suggested that I try the talent show in the future. I've been doing magic for almost a couple years now, but I'm not sure whether or not I should give it a shot. I'm going into sophomore year, and I was considering trying for junior or senior year. The effect that seemed the most impressive and relatively solid for me was "For Andruzzi" by Luke Jermay.
I've been dabbling in suggestion work for about 8 months now and am now, pretty solid at RGM, For Andruzzi, and Burst Bubble. Obviously, For Andruzzi is the best choice for a larger group of people- and it's a chilling effect on top of that. I'm limiting myself to suggestion effects because I want to do something that doesn't have a technical method. I don't want people googling what I do and finding it on youtube or something.
There are still some questions I haven't found the questions to.
What type of presentation would be the most powerful?
How should I pick a pulse taker out of the audience?
Pendulum or hand for the spec's pulse?
Should I even be doing this?
Would it be possible to delay the return of the spectators pulse while making it look to the audience like I'm trying to make it come back? It would be like the situation described by Derren Brown where the performer loses control of the situation.
Opinions and comments are appreciated.
Thanks.
