Svengali Deck

Postby JAlexBrown » Jul 23rd, '07, 22:06

I just purchased a Svengali Deck, and I already need some suggestions. Everytime I do a trick with it, the specs want to examine the deck, which obviously cannot be done. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I might pull off a quick deck switch or something so I can pass around a (not the) deck for examination.

Thanks in advance for any help,
JAlexBrown

PS: I hope none of the aforementioned post is considered exposure. If so, terribly sorry to the mods.

Not exposure but you should use the Search button as there are loads of previous threads on the Sven and all sorts of hints and tips associated with it. Mark Lewis will happily sell you his wondrous tome on that very deck (check Reviews and Reviews of Books etc) and, to be quite honest, it's a darned good investment!

I agree that the deck is a great one. I've had massive success doing tricks that otherwise be nearly impossible unless you had the best slight of hand. I love having them put the card in the middle of the deck, then it jumps right to the top. Cut the deck and put the spec's card BACK into the middle of the deck, and once again, it's back at the top. Then I cut three piles and ask the spec to pick one and tell me what month they were born in. Count down that many cards in their selected pile, and BAM!, there's their card once more. Spec's love it. Very visual, very simple. I'm sorry...this is not intended to be a review, just a reply to the investment comment. I just rant a bit sometimes when I get excited.

Mark's book gives an excellent method of changing the Sven into a very examinable, very ordinary deck right under the spec's noses - they watch you do it and you have all the time in the world as well. Very cheeky but effective :D !

You will rant even more when you purchase my most excellent literary masterpiece on the subject. I would of course not provoke the rather sillier members of this forum by advertising the said historical work of magical literature on here so I shall not tell you that it can be obtained for the measly sum of $25 post paid to anywhere in the world. Neither shall I tell you that you can access information on it at http://www.marklewisentertainment.com/h ... cians.html

Now that I haven't told you anything about it I can assure you that it is the finest book ever written on the svengali deck and you would be remiss if you did not purchase it.

Mark Lewis.. your an old man   , well Older than I would have expected anyway.

You dont look half as pompous as you come across ( even though I am well aware that it is you 'character' and that you are most likely very likeable in 'real life' )

Anywho.. JAlexBrown, I would not recommend 101 tricks witha svengali, my personal opinion was that it was drivel and there was not much scope.

For the stripper deck I would recommend Strip by Jon Thomspon and for the Svengali.. purely by word of mouth, I would recommend the 'not yet purchased by myself' book written by Mark Lewis. It is meant to be rather good. And he's obviously been around a while s knows what he is talking about

Oi!

Behave ID - I've just this minute bought myself a Mirage Deck, after spotting a few posts on Mr. Lewis' pamphlet thingy.

May well have to get this as well now...though whether he'd actually sell me one, after we hissed and spat at each other via PM some weeks back, I'm not entirely certain

me neither, i just hate the thought of people giving lewis money,

in all seriousness, dont get 101 svengali tricks its drivvle! you just need a sven deck and an imagination to come up with them yourself.

am i the only one that gets so wound up with mark that i cant bring myself to buy his pamphlet? i know by the sounds of it i would really like it, but i get so infuriated lol.

ps, this is not meant to start another locked post, we know there is no love loss between us, lets just leave that there, if his book interests you, get it, it is meant to be good, (shudders)

His head is not that much bigger than mine, take a look at his pic

give the old man a break.. he's served his time. And his book is supposed to be good. I didnt need to but it because I can think for myself ways to use the deck, I just didnt have the motivation to make good use of it.

I think I want to be a stripper anyway.
