If you are using photoshop, you can just size them down to 80x80 and then save them as a .bmp file. That will cut it down in size

If you're looking for images on google (like I did) set your search to all small pictures and then look at the information underneath each search result to see if it will work.

Innuendo Bingo lol

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Anybody that has photoshop can use the option 'Save for web and devices', which is located under the file menu.
It can make a 50kb file into a 5 kb one, without any really noticeable differences.
Amazing.

Being avatarless (I think I just made that word up) has a certain seductive quality to it.

It means the picture you are trying to upload must be a JPG, a GIF or a PNG file, and it probably isn't. It might be a BMP or a TIF, so you need to convert it.
Assuming you're not familiar with file extensions (the dot blah after a file name) then what you should probably do is open the picture you want as an avatar in a programme like MS Paint and then re-save it as a JPG.
