Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

Should I have the several different cards that could be chosen in my pocket, read to palm or different predictions with the different cards written on, then?

Maybe you can pull out half a roll of mentos afterwards, take one yourself and offer one to your spectator, which then discovers his card stuck inside...

That's a good idea, I could work with that. Any other suggestions are welcome!

thats a great idea, also what about sticks of gum ;) you could have a pack setup with the specific force cards offer them a gum and its there card! then maybe switch the pack for a genuine pack with real gum incase they think you could have had 52 gum sticks??

Ages ago I saw a magish do a routine using packs of Wrigley's Gum - it was obviously something varied from one using cigarettes. Genuinely free choice of a dozen unopened packs of gum, genuinely free choice of the individual stick yet when opened the inside of the wrapper had the prediction written on it.

I think some people are missing the point of the cigarette card 'reveal'. The effect is not that the card moves from the pack to your mouth. The effect, is that you make them see a card which isn't in the deck at all, infact you have been smoking the card from 'the start' only they didn't realise!

The card isn't supposed to seem to change, it's supposed to be like they just realise that it was not a cigarette at all but infact was your card.

That's the way I look at it anyway

Having the card appear somewhere else is a mind power deck trick, not a smoke variation.

Well then I guess I'm looking for a mind power deck trick specific for me. I suppose if the card isn't the cigarette, it is a whole other trick.

Is there any other way of having the card "on display" from the start without the spectator realising then? Could I be eating polos during the trick (not that that would be very professional) and then offer them one and they see that the card has been rolled up inside the tube the whole trick? (I could switch the normal polo packet with the one with the correct card inside.)

Gum's been mentioned before, but how about unwrapping a stick of gum and putting it in your mouth to chew. Then you cough and such and somehow it's turned into a mercury folded card, just like the cigarette.

That's pretty good. I'm just wondering whether there's anything that I can do that has a better ending...

Just some suggestions:

1) Have the card sealed into a packet of crisps, open them in front of the spec and offer one, card will be there.

2) A pen that is on view all the time, is unscrewed and the card is rolled up inside.

3) Same with any kind of sweets or chocolate bar. A Mars bar can carefully be opened, the card placed in and resealed with RC. Offer it to them at the start of the effect and tell them it's their reward if you can't find their card. Obviously it's not there so tell them the chocolate is theirs and when they open it, There it is!

Those are some really great ideas, thanks a lot!

The only problem is that, without giving the trick away, there are a variety of cards the spectator is forced to pick, they could pick one out of a few. I would have to switch the crisp packet/pen with one with the correct card if they don't pick the exact card I wanted.... I maybe need something on the table that could be switched without the spectator noticing. Hmmmm... A pen is a good idea, though.

What about three crisp packets? Using equivoque you could force the right one upon them.
