As an older guy, with a bit of schizophrenia, I take offence to that...

Two parrots are on a perch. One sidles up next to the other and asks, "Do you smell fish?"

A who with a bit of what?

There's these two penguins on an ice flow. One turns to the other and says, "It's funny, but you look like you're wearing a tuxedo." The other one looks out to sea and replies enigmatically,"Maybe I am..."

2:46 and Alone

Postby Amanda Angeli » Jul 11th, '07, 02:54

Hello fellow Magicians of the Night,

It's 2:46 A.M. and all of you are asleep and dreaming, it seems. Sometimes, at this time of night, it's kind of lonely here. I can picture our Magic Warehouse, down by the docks, a slight breeze blowing the few remaining leaves from last year about the narrow streets. There's a cool breeze drifting in off the river and I am alone. The night calls of course, for my style of magic and soon I shall take to the street.

For it is in the blowing leaves, in the mist, in the swirls of the river that I find my Illusions and they dance before me. Sometimes of course, it is wonderful to have a paying audience for that is where bills are overcome, but for magic, of my style, it is to nature, even of the city, on a night like this that I am called.

If none but the shadows see my performance, that is fine by me. For it is the art that beckons me out on a night like this to weave my magic and Illusions from that of the night calling.

I know you all sleep and that makes me smile in a maternal sort of way over all of you, for as magicians, we are all one family.

It is strange the thoughts one has at night, when alone on a board like this when the wind tickles my window and flickers my candle light. Magic is afoot, calling. Come, awake, and dance your art with me for a magical party is about to begin and I so want you all here each with your own tricks and stunts, illusions and acts. Awake!!!

Love,

Amanda Angeli

I can't sleep (lifelong insomniac and proud of it!) so I'm sat here collecting data on a false shuffle I'm working on for handling small packets of different sizes and resisting the urge to simply get a coffee and dive into Julian Moore's Post Justify manuscript, which looks like an absolutely brilliant work.

Fortunately for you, there are some magicians who live in far away, exotic places like California where it's still only 7 o'clock.

Your writing was very vivid (as Kenton Knepper would say, it created vivid mental pictures) and nice. It's always great to hear of people who are magicians for the sake of being magicians. It makes up for the depression that comes from watching youtube videos.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

False Shuffles and Poetic Writing

Postby Amanda Angeli » Jul 11th, '07, 03:26

Hello Tomo and Slightly Crazy,

Your false shuffle work sounds so fun. I wish I was there to sip on a cup of coffee with you and watch you do it. I love card work so.

And good evening Slightly Crazy, yes, you are right, it is but 7 ish in California but my writing required a bit of poetic license and dreams of far off lands of British shores for my imagination is so with you all as one day I hope to be.

I don't watch the Youtube stuff, in fact, I don't really think I would even know how to find it without some link or such. And that is fine with me. I prefer live magic filled with life. Instead of watching, I love to do for I love the moment and action so.

I'm glad I'm not the only one up though it is but early where the sun always shines. I was feeling alone there for a bit and I missed you all. Thank you for your kind words.

Love,

Amanda Angeli

Oh, you don't really. It's just me, a pencil, a calculator and pages of figures, trying to find a general case that works for any size of packet .

Heres something completely off topic.
everyone go to Seige's website and scroll all the way down to the bottom. the last words on the page are an advert that caught me by surprise.
