When I start earning professional money, then I'll start getting professional manicures.
But mine are very well turned out at the moment. The right hand is too much though (acoustic guitar), and even freaks me out sometimes. I either get "nail envy" from women, or they think it's creepy.

Mrs Seige paints her nails with a hardening compound (uncoloured). Not quite sure what it does, but she could literally scale a coconut tree and have perfect claws at the end of it.

I know a lot of IT/computer dudes who have got the most HORRIBLE nails I've ever seen... I'm talking grime, stubby bitten off stumpy things and worse.

Really bad. And that includes a lass who works for us doing illustration, her nails are appalling. To the point that she actually comes over as being 'grubby' looking.

So yes—there's some merit to having nice nails.

I let my nails grow long and then I bite the suckers off! My nails grow really fast and I think it's because my hair also grow really fast. The last I heard, nail and hair growth are controlled by the same protein and are made of the same carbohydrate.

Some of the keyboards you get in server galleries are disgusting too.

The worst thing fro me was that I'd be froever picking the slightest bit of dirt from under my nails, and I think it made me look nervous. Also, mine are very soft. Hmmm... perhaps I should invest in some hardener and give it another go.

Ive never biten my nails, but i used to grind the middle of my thumb nail with my bottom teeth when i was younger. I stopped when i got down to the skin underneath and it looked really gross.

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

Hello Lady of Mystery,

Oh chica, I so totally agree with you. NO WAY!!! Besides, fire engine red nail polish looks so much better on longer nails.

A girl's got think of such things. It helps with being a cardsharp.

Love,

Actually thought about it at one point, till I heard the price. So before a big show, I just neatly clean them up- file and such.

I do have a friend, male, that got a pedicure a few times.

No, hes just goofy and can afford it. Plus his feet are rather "nasty" lookin. I believe the lady that gave the pedicure made faces when she saw his feet. But hes cool.

To risk going off-topic, I played the guitar when I was younger, and I didn't have a callous problem. I'm guessing they'll eventually disappear?

(Oh, and I'm also an uncurable nail biter. Always am, always will be. At least I try to keep them clean, and looking at least presentable for bitten nails..)

I used to be terrible for biting my nails and do so for around 40 years

When I started performing I watched or read something about preentation and I stopped and haven;t bitten them since :D althought I do get tempted from time to time

I keep them nicely filed with an emery board as I'm too much of a skin flint to pay for a manicure 8)
