Explanations By Spectators?

Postby Michael Kras » Aug 5th, '07, 07:40

What's the funniest or weirdest bunch of guesses by spectators in regards to the method of a magic effect you perform? Something so insanely stupid that it couldn't even really work at all? Here are the best of the bunch for me:

I performed a Zombie routine onstage, and afterwards a young kid said "Your cloth is magnetic!"... I guess it's The Mystery Of The Floating Cloth then... OOO. :D

I performed Interlace, and the spectator's theory was that I shoved the ring down my pants when she wasn't looking. I guess I get to keep it then?

I did Dan Harlan's Hovercard, and the spectator told me that the card had repelling magnets in it. At least he didn't spot the gimmick. :D

Let's hear 'em! This could be quite interesting.

I did "Indecent" and the spectator thought I cut a hole in the bag and then rubbed it and heated it up enough to seal it back together.

lol, well keep in mind it's hard for spectators to think laterally in a magic way. Still funny though.

I back palmed a card for a kid and the adult behind him said it went up my sleeve...kid wasn't so fooled haha.

During one of my rare "must do some close up" moments I was performing Jay Sankeys "In a Flash" when a spectator told me the marker pen had special qualities that stopped the coin burning through the signed card.

I did a key card location and dropped a card, the card went down one of the folds in a table cloth and I picked it back up and she said "THATS how you do it!"

Because I carry the table cloth with me everywhere

Some people have said that the hummer card can never be string. The card must be magnetic and it must be attracted to a magnet in my watch. Also if I do a card force and tell them the card, they don't normally say the cards are marked, they normally say I can see the reflection in their eyes. I then preceed to do it again (another force this time, obviously!) and they have their eyes jammed shut to make sure im not glancing into their eyes!

Once i did 2 card monte and asked the guy to turn them around (pointing at the cards). He then turned 180 degrees away from me and said 'so now what?'

That's funny. Did you just look at the card? I would have done.
