Again, the poll questions are to refined. I use a wand for my cups and balls routine but never for anything else. Maybe you need to add a couple of options such as Sometimes, For a particular effect, etc.

All the best,

Very handy for cups and balls and it fits in with the props but I never use one for anything else.

The only wands i use are:
1. Kids show wands, breakaway, spring etc
2. Appearing 8 foot wand

I dont think that wands really suit my act unless they are played for comedy

Hey guys,

I rarely use a wand, it just dosn't fit my style. But the main reason for using a wand is misdirection. So any tricks that require this i tend to use something else such as a pen or wallet (any excuse to reach into my pocket).

For routines where a giveaway might be in order, cards4magic do small wands, 50 for £3.50 plus P&P and they're great little items to hand out as souvenirs. Have a look at http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/acatalog/Wands.html - and scroll down to Plastic Miniature wands 50 in pack 98mm x 4.5mm. Also extremely useful for very small magicians.

For sure!

With a wand in my hand, I can have a brick concealed in that hand too.

So far as I was aware, this forum is for Magicians, or aspiring ones to share their knowledge. Please can I point out the obvious - not only magicians look at these pages!!!

The wand is very important to a magi. If you would like to discuss my point, or the reasons why, send me a personal message - do not discuss it here!!!

What a daft topic to introduce for conversation!

pedey a wand is a magician's tool, that said there are many magician's out there that dont use a wand at all and some that use specialised wands for specific tricks.

we havant discussed loads or holdouts here in any shape or form, only discussed wether we use wands at all so i cant see any problem so far and belive me the mods here are shhhht hot at jumping all over anyone giveing away to much, so rest assured your secrets are safe.

i can go a whole show without useing a wand, conversly i can use ten different wands in a show, all of the wands disscussed can be clearly sen and worked out by anyone looking at a magic shop web page so dont worry. :D

I'm quite clear on a wands' use

Postby Pedey » Apr 4th, '04, 01:05

magicdiscoman,

as I am sure we are both aware, a wand can be anything, not just the piece of wood or metal. It can be a playing card, a pen, or anything! That is / was the point I was trying to make. In this world where so many of our secrets seem to be up for grabs, let's leave this one alone.

How shall I put it? - A wand sits in a relaxed hand. Does that make my point clearer?

are i see said the blind man it was right under my nose all the time, well actualy above it.

normaly I'm a bit quicker than that but thease 18hr days are being a real drag of late, card makers inocent comment may well have ruffled a few feathers besides yours and mine, if i'd seen it so accept my appoligies.

in future you may want to copy the text that causes you concern before you post your reply then paste it into the top of your reply, then highlight it and click the quote button as i have done.
this would help some of us who are visualy chalenged, many thanks for pointing this out and apoligies all round for not spotting it, perhapse thats why I'm not a mod then

Yes...

... I do use a wand, but only for some tricks, but a pen is also a great tool. I have got a black pen with white tips and this is a great "wand" . Its a shame you can't get Sharpies with white tips, but you could repaint a pen to look like one.
