I'm sorry, my Lady, it won't happen again.

Back on topic... I think kkk1 may have purchased beeswax by mistake. Or the magician's wax you have got might be old? Just a guess there, I don't know how it ages.

It said on the packet MAGICIANS WAX then when i opened it up it had a piece of paper saying "BEE WAX uses for this quality bee wax: As magicians wax used in all the old effects"Made in India.
thats exactly what it said so i wasn't wrong the packet was it was all the packets fault. :o

I've just spoken to a VERY big magic supplier, who says there's absolutely no way Beeswax could have been sold as 'Magician's wax'.

Where on earth did you get this from?

Say no more.

eBay is a very dodgy place to buy magic from. I spoke only last week to a guy who bought 3 mainstream DVDs from eBay at 'ridiculously cheap' prices, only to discover they were all DVD-Rs with no covers.

Be afraid—there's a lot of shysters out there cashing in on magicians.

I guess a lot of us have made mistakes like this but thankfully only once! Check a few online shops, Magician's wax is very low cost stuff, £3 or £4 for a small tub but enough for lots of uses and performances.

No offense, but have you SEARCHED for any? It's a lot less hassle to find one than it is to find magicians wax on eBay!

Check any of the advertisers on TM, they will all offer proper stuff. I had a quick look at eMagicTricks this morning and it was £2.95 for a 1/4 ounce tub of the softer wax, and bit more than that for a tub of the harder type.

Have just been browsing on cards4magic and came accross Bee's wax for sale. Its describe as bee's wax, and not magicians wax, but it is advertised for magical use.

Bees Wax - block
Bees Wax in a good size block, to anchor t*****s, to s**** two c**** together, easy to use.

Bees wax is a golden colour. Its a very hard wax, as waxes go. Usually in stick form although sometimes obtainable in tins watered down with solvents such as White Spirit for spreading onto wood with a cloth. In its hard form it has little or no tackyness. Its not really suitable for any magical purposes. Trust me, I was a cabinet maker in a past life.

Magicians wax is softer and has a tacky feel to it. Its colour is that of a candle, but again, don't use candle wax, that too is non tacky and too hard.

I have an excellent trick using the softer magicians wax. We used to give it away free when doing Practical Magic stands. If anyone wants it, PM me, but make sure you have at least 50 posts on TM first.

I have had some success using Bees wax for anchoring IT...however I must admit that does different in texture than the magicians wax I have used....depending on what you use it for you can get away with it.

One thing I find is that actual mag.wax softens up much quicker and is far more tacky than bees wax....I have to work my bees wax over a couple of times to soften/warm it up in order to make it tacky....

My point being that or It purposes both can work but there is certainly advantages to actual mag.wax rather than bees wax

I get mine from www.magictricks.co.uk
It's very good and only a couple of quid. don't be deceived by how small the block is as you only need to use a small amount which you soften with your fingertips and spread over the card or whatever.
It's good quality stuff too.
